01 Galant won't start

My friend has a 01 Galant, 2.4 L engine. She said it ran fine, but one morning, it would not start.
I checked for fuel flow at the pump, and fuel flow is good when in the start postition, but no fuel in the on postion.

I looked for spark at the plug wire (screwdriver in the end, and held it close to ground), but did not see any.

Downloaded trouble code, had a P1610, and one pending, that never came up.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK, well, I didn't get much help here, but maybe you thought I was an idiot.
Anyway, I searched the web, till I found that P1610 is a run inhibit code. I pressured the girl for more info, and found out, that the key she was using was not the original. She had lost the chip key the night before , and the next day, tried to start the car with a normal metal key, which of corse, let the starter turn over, but not start. I told her, to have a new chip key made, and now everything is fine.
