well,
just bought 03 lancer oz rally yesterday, ses light came on. Went to autozone, printed me out the code, and reset it. it came on again.
could be catlytic converter, engine misfire, large vacuum leak, engine oil leakage..
has anyone ever had this code and how much did it cost to get it fixed?
thanks

Its definitely a problem with the cat, might be the sensors on it, or the cat itself

Its prolly a good bet, its the sensor im talking about, so it can be that or the cat, about the cat, the price will be one for a new cat, and the installation, and if it ts the sensors, you might need to change em

Well,
I heard P0421 is a pretty common recall. Im not real crazy about going to the dealer, might try some local place instead..$95 just to diagnose what we probly already know it is?
what do you mean by, "the price will be one for new cat?" you mean 1,000? lol..hopefully dealer will do it free if recall..

once again, do a search.
if you have an open recall on your car, the reprogramming is free. Cat. converter replacement is free up to 100k miles.

reprogramming for what? Well, not sure about replacing cat converter, gonna set up a time to take it to local mechanic, with the info i have and code. My friend looked at my egr valve and said he thinks it needs replaced and thats whats causing my ses light..

do you actually read the posts in this forum?
its been covered many times, but Ill repeat again... There is a recall for your car. Due to incorrect software parameters, you may damage your cat. converter. New software must me uploaded to your PCM, which your "local" mechanic cant do.
The cat. converter must be replaced, but you are no longer eligable for it under warranty. Either you or the previous owner has choosen to ignore the recall notice sent to you (or them), and as such are now in a position where you will need to pay for the cat., although the software is free.
