I am curious if anyone else noticed that cig lighter in the center arm rest compartment has power even if the car is off. It's annoying because I want to be able only to charge my player when the car is running and not when it's off.

I did notice that this is always "on". On our last trip we had our gps and dvd player plugged into it and they stayed on when the vehicle was turned off and the key removed. My wife and I were surprised because this wa not the case in either our eclipse or lancer. Does anyone know if their is a battery failsafe that will shut this plug off if the battery gets too low? We were concerned that if we forgot to unplug we may return to a dead battery.

The center is always on. The dash and rear is off w/o acc on. Which sucks because I have to fish the coleman cooler power to the center console.
I doubt theres run down protection...wanna test it

j/k
Interesting, I wonder why did they leave it like that.

In my European version: no power on acc if the car is off. I can change this setting with the Mitsubishi Multi Media System to Acc always on.

My Raider has the center console lighter with the always on. I love it, I can charge my phone while I'm away from the truck.

Looks like US Outlander also has an option ACC OFF, 30, 60 mins... is that the same thing?

Yea, you can change that is you have the nav system, I think. It's in the system menu. I leave mine on to charge my phone while I'm away.
