Ok, I set the MPG calculator to Manual reset, but then it reset again. I double checked the manual and it says it will reset and go back to auto if the car is in LOCK or ACC mode for more than 4 hours. Do you guys just drive your cars every 4 hrs?!?! (joking)

Please help.

I haven't tried to change its behavior.

Lately I have been better gas mileage. That is by checking how many miles I have driven and filling up. I have been actually get 25MPG. The trip on my computer has been saying I avg 25, 26, and even 27mpg.

what's your driving mix (city/hwy)?  I'm around 90% hwy, thus my higher numbers.

I drive on coutry roads most the time or highways. My entire town has 4 red lights in it that are within 1 squar mile. Not to mention I dont go through town ever. The the rest of the time I am either driving on back roads or down the highways. I advoid all city and busy roads. I will go out of my way to get a empty back country road rather than deal with other peoples driving.

Can anyone help me on my question about how to not get it to reset on Post #26?? Thanks

I have been getting a lot better mileage now that I am getting used to how the car drives. I saw over 25 mpg :) Coming from an old V8, that is pretty good....

If resets every 4 hours if the car isnt started no matter what. If you put it on auto reset then it will reset everytime you turn your car off. No way around it.

Well I feel a little better. I drive about 80/20 the 80 is lots of stoplights, 40-45mph, hills and hairpin turns. I still have under 2K on mine and am getting about 21mpg.

Strangely I did notice a difference of about 1mph increase if I drive the regular run in manual mode. Still trying to figure that one out because I run the rpms up higher and wait longer to move from 4th to 6th. In fact sometimes I leave it in 4th because of the hills.

It does get better each fill up, I just never get in any highway driving that isnt stop and go traffic. If I take it to work with 60mph speed limits I average 35 or less mph but have seen 26mpg on the display.

Couple of weeks ago on the BBC (UK) they had a mad professor who found that driving a car like an old man gave worse mpg than racing around like a mad man.

He said floor the gas pedal until you hit 2000rpm then change up to the next gear and do the same again until you get to 60mpg  everybody said rubbish it would use more petrol.  So he got 3 men and 3 women took them out driving how they normally did then he trained the same group using his technique and it worked all got better mpg than before.

Even the RAC and AA could not believe is results worked in better mpg.  They even beat the car maker’s mpg figures.

This only works in petrol engines with manual gearboxes though
