The transmissions are the same, to do the swap you'll need the engine harness, intake, drivers side eng mount, ecu and engine. I think everything else is pretty much the same.

They might be the same but i am not 100% sure thats why I said you might need it. Its been a while since I saw a 1.8 engine bay lol.

You will absolutely need to replace the drivers side engine mount.

sup guys, figured this was the right thread to start...first of all i'm new to this forum and to piston engines

j/k j/k, i own an Rx7 so i know more about rotaries than pistons, but to get to the point, my brother just got a 93 eclipse with a 1.8 engine in it, and there's something wrong with it, anyways he got a 2.0 engine with the deal so i read on here about the stuff he may need, i'm not sure what year model eclipse his 2.0 engine came out off, but does that matter? and i also want to know a ball park estimate of the parts needed, hes got the 2.0 engine, ECU. he's deffenetly gonna need the harness, ...does he need a different tranny? or can he use the same thanks for putting up with my **** :P

As stated previously in this post the tranny is the same for the 1.8 and the 2.0, however the difference is the flywheel so you may need to replace the clutch and pressure plate to match up to the 2.0 flywheel (dependent on if crank on the 2.0 is 6 bolt or 7 bolt)
It was not stated if the 2.0 was complete, intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, exhaust manifold, Flywheel, brackets from the block to the front and back motor mounts etc
The wiring harness should be the same for the 1.8 and 2.0 non-turbo, only the 2.0 turbo is different.
The ECU is also different but it was stated that he had the ECU, hopefully the correct one.
Hope this helps some.

thanks for the fast reply, uh..i'm not sure on what the engine has, i'm almost positive it's complete tho, i'll make sure of that, on the other hand fuel delivery it's still the same, or would he need to upgrade the gaspump or w/e or does the ecu take care of that? . . . i'll make sure to get all the other facts about the engine just to make sure thanks a million

The Wiring harness is different. If the engine is from a 90 you'll need a coil pack, ecu and cam position sensor from a 93. (90's had different coil packs and cam position sensors)

the engine's from a 93 also, and it doesn't come with the intake system, so that blows..

we tried to start the old engine today, seems like it wanted to start but it just didn't...we noticed some smoke coming out of the pulley area somewhere around there and where the engine mounts the transmission... didn't smell like oil or anything so we're still trying to figure out what it was, also distributor cap was a bit cracked...you think this may be a reason for it not starting?
