1991 3000gt -- 1993 stealth rt SWAP???

hi im new to these forum and I was wondering if anyone would help me with this problem that I have, I want to change my broken tranny manual from a stealth rt 93 to put it in my 91 3000gt sl but reading I realized that that a 2nd generation car according to what I read and will not fit on it, is there anyway possible that I can make it fit my car and if I can what can I do to put it in my car.

From what I have read, the Getrag Transmissions are the same with the exception to the 6th gear added to Generation #2. The gearing is all internal, so the casing on the outside should be the same. I may be wrong, but I think, based on this, that it should fit.

i was a little confused @ the original post, but are you saying that a 91 and a 93 are two different generations of cars? if you did say that, i think youve got it mixed up. cars years 91 through 93 are considered first gen.

and then i think 94 through 98 are second gen

then 99 is third gen.

if not you should join there and i've noticd that more people respond to things over there. and for the most part everyone is either driving a 3000gt or a stealth over there, so it seems that theres a little more info over there. not to put down this site

mine is a second gen, and says its a 94 but the thing on the door jam says it was made in october of 93. maybe thats what he ment by it being a 93.

hmmm, but i always thought that it would still be whatever year that they said it was. well, we know that if it's got pop up light that it can't be anything past 93. so that should help

true the pop up lights are first gen. you are totally right, i guess mine was made early.
