Hi I am new to this forum. So hi to everyone. My girlfriend has a 2002 lance ES with an automatic transmission. The transmission slips while shift from 2nd and 3rd. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? Thanks in advance.

It could be a few things, did you get it scanned for codes?

I have not yet. I will try to see if that reveals anything. There is no check engine light on though. Thanks

You might want to elaborate on that... how does the overdrive clutch housing cause a slipping condition?  I can see the overdrive piston seal being damaged or the clutches being worn to crap.

Reply to manybrews I think its the syncronizers for second gear my sons been power shifting it and the clutch disc has completly gone south the car wount even move now, so Im just going to put anonther tranny in and a new clutch kit then if it gets torn out again well I guess my boy will be hoofin it for awhile anyway forgot to tell you that the trans just grinds going into second gear and I did get my son to fess up to powershifting ,  really its about him owning up to the truth,   Im going to help him one time after that hes on his own, the truth mean everything to me since he told me I have to forgive him It will be good learning for us both .

the worn housing occurs at the sealing point between the case and clutch drum.
the seals dont seal well, causing a bleeding of pressure and a flare, double, or violent shift.
