Went to a new car convention in portland today, and saw a "concept mitsubishi eclipse"  It was like the 4g, but a little more racer style, and came with a 4g63, and an evo drivetrain.  No pics right now, because i didnt bring a camera, but once my friend sends them to me, ill post them.
I must say it was actually really sweet looking. If it were a production car, i would get it over the evo for sure.

LOL kick that short, skinny dudes ass.

I guess it makes sence... i see it this way. There is already a 4G63 AWD sports car in the Mitsubishi line... Not to mention it has a HUGE legacy behind it and that is something they want to continue. Putting the Ralliart Eclipse into production will simply greatly reduce the demand for the EVO. Beings that this car is a lot lighter... has 400hp and AWD.. and 2 doors along with a bad ass exterior. Mitsubishi has never been a consumer oriented company. They are all about profits at this moment in time. I mean... only someone who is truely interested in making a great car... (like the guy that built the Veyron... cost 5 mil to make each... and sold for half that... that is a true car enthusiast!) and lets face it.. Mitsubishi is in financial difficulty and suffering reduced sales as it is... so they would have nothing to gain from the R-A Eclipse production... so they wont do it. Business smart... but all the more STUPID AS ****!

ive seen it a couple monthes ago at the San Francisco Auto show, is it the new style eclipse with the 400hp on a 4g63T with all HKS carbon fiber parts on it, including the dual mufflers?

Hurry up with the pics already Jeff!
I believe the reason for doing this to the 4G Eclipse was to say that the motor, drivetrain, electronics, etc. could be done.  I don't remember exactly, I'll have to look at the article again.
It definitely gives me hope, I do like swaps

As Sebba stated though, it won't happen as long as the EVO is here.  Mitsu would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they did.
That Eclipse was also a RalliArt project, which means that it was "OK'ed" by Mitsu and probably helped by Mitsu engineers, since RA is equivalent to SRT/TRD/SHO/etc.

that's the way i've seen it from the beginning... it's been mentioned in a few magz a while ago (about 2-3 months ago)   yes it most definatly is a bad ass car and who wouldn't want them to release but there's NO WAY that they are ever going to release a car that is more powerful than the EVO.   Sebba is right about the finanial difficulties right now w/ Mitsu, so i don't seee them releasing it however, if somebody were to convert their4g eclipse into a Raliart. . . almighty props will be given (hint hint 4th gen owners!!!!)

the EVO is lighter in weight man.  the 4G eclipse is a pig why do you think they mad so much carbon fiber for the body of it

yes, the 4g is heavy but i thought i read in one of the magazines that (obviously other than body material) tha they lightened it up... it really doesn't matter b/c it won't be put into production but im pretty sure the ralliart was quite a bit lighter than the EVO

the EVOs only weight likw 3100-3300 depending on model.  The 4G is what 3600 was it?  they ould need to do alot of lightening up to be alot better than the Evo ya know.  I mean we are talking like 500 lbs

Personally, I would take the hit in performance for what is to me, a much better looking car.

You must not be in the same boat as me...I'd prefer the Eclipse over the EVO...but truly, neither one of them look as good as a 3S.

edit:  I know looks are subjective and what one person finds pleasing to the eye, another will not.

you worded it wrong that's why i got it twisted, the EVO IX is putting down 286whp,  the Eclipse Ralliart concept is suposed to put down 400 (i think this is crank hp though).   thats why i thought you were talking about the EVO

I see how you were confused, but all things considered, even if Mitsu were to build that Eclipse, I'd almost bet money they would tune it down to normal EVO specs in terms of HP.
