i doubt they will ever release one that will run w/ an evo... they have to much invested in the EVO. that is 'THE CAR" for mitsu...

idk. It seems like if they just put out an eclipse with the exact same engine and drivetrain as the evo, it WOULD hurt the selling of evos, but if they just charged around the same thing, maybe more, it would still balance out. Some people like coupes, some people like sedans...And bringing another good looking car with that power into play would only attract more buyers.

and i definately dont think it would destroy the evo forever either.

If they have to tune it down.. It wouldnt be that hard to tune it back up to its potential... Put me on the waiting list if this thing ever makes production

That in itself is reason enough. Use and much EVO technology as possible. The Eclipse would naturally be a heavier so it's performance would not quite be up to par with a lighter more nimble EVO. Using existing technology would be cheaper than R&D.
Seems like a win-win to me.

Jeff thats exactly what i said.
Conclusion: It will result in losing money.. and for that reson Mitsubishi will not produce it with their current financial status.

Hurry up with the pics already Jeff!
I believe the reason for doing this to the 4G Eclipse was to say that the motor, drivetrain, electronics, etc. could be done. I don't remember exactly, I'll have to look at the article again.
It definitely gives me hope, I do like swaps
As Sebba stated though, it won't happen as long as the EVO is here. Mitsu would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they did.
That Eclipse was also a RalliArt project, which means that it was "OK'ed" by Mitsu and probably helped by Mitsu engineers, since RA is equivalent to SRT/TRD/SHO/etc.
well look at what the new evo looks like, bleh and it loses the tradition of the Only stick factor

well theres no way they cant straight up lose money by putting out a sweeeeet car. so they can only gain.

No dude.. think about it. The cost of production, transportation, advertisement, product testing, crash testing, all the EPA bullshit.. and all the other standards it has to meet. Its not that easy dude...
They would be taking a big risk with it... the EVO will become less important.
Maybe with the new EVO X not having a 4G63T ... they will be in need of a NEW 4G63T sports car.. .who knows.
But i stand by what i said...
