2007 STi, 293HP 290lb-ft

Whats up guys, I might be a bit late on this but I jus found out that the 2007 WRX STi no longer gets 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. Instead, it receives 293 hp and 290 lb-ft. Also gets peak torque at 4,400 RPM's instead of the normal 4,000 RPM's. Alot of guys I met that don't own STi's but love em always brag that the evo only has 276/286 hp and STi come out with 300. I jus wonder what they're goanna say now. lol

why does it matter when the 05 and 06 EVOs have less power and are faster and the EVO has much better handling.

what a bunch of newbs lol HP ratings mean nothing. The EVO IX is rated at 286hp and runs 12.89 1\4 the STi is rated at 300ho and runs 13.2-13.4 hmmmmm ill let them have 20 extra HP

Not to mention our motors are good up to about 510AWHP there motors start to crack piston ringlands at around 400HP so with bolt ons and cams there motor is to the breaking point.

I don't think people will say much different than now.

isn't there a driver thing on the evo MR and the sti, the MR wins with i like.

lol dont worry I know better than anyone else that hp means nothing. I was saying it as a joke cause people that don't know any better are quick to claim the STi jus because of the difference in hp compared to the evo. where I live, I get lots of hater crap from people that don't own evo's. And as you said evos are faster anyway but it's funny to me now cause they can't say that the sti got 300 any more.

RS VIII is the fastest VIII

IX models I assume are the same since the RS weights alot less

since we are on the topic of evos being fast... my friend (SUPER NOOB CAR JUNKIE) keeps naming cars off that he things will beat an evo off the line... everyone hes named ive said no to... i was just wondering what car under $30,000 will beat the evo off the line...

Off the line? none maybe a GSX with mods.


If it matters I raced a brand new STi last night. He had full exhaust and was running race gas, I was on pump 93 at 19-20PSI and was walking all over him making him look silly. He cheated came up and I went to talk to him and he down shifted an floored it on me. so with a car length head start before I was down to 2nd gear Im thinking I wasnt gonna catch him but I walked up in 2nd then in 3rd kept walking got even with him and stopped for cars

Then again later on down the road he down shifts and waits for me so I downshift and we went about the same time and I walked ahead instantly throught all of 2nd and 3rd I had to stop for traffic again so I pulled a half of car on him or so in a short distance but if we had running room I would have put prob 2 car lengths on him maybe more

maybe they are trieng to even out the playign field by dropping the hp a little bit in hopes to get better accel and handling?

that is not going to help either. There handling problem is because they uses cheezy suspension setups and run 70% rear wheel Drive and it will make accel slower
