Hi all, i am new to this forum and i just put a deposit down on a 2008 Lancer GTS with a CVT automatic.  I live in Canada where we have severe winters with cold temperatures.  My question is:  Has anyone installed a command start on their 2008 Lancer GTS with the Smart Key system?  My dealer says that they don't know if it is possible to put one in because of the smart key.  A command start is essential for me.  I was hoping you guys would know more on this subject.  If so, could you please tell me which one will work and how much they are in price.

Thanks and i look forward to talking with you guys,

Chad

Hi modpup, I have a 2008 Lancer ES automatic and I'm about to have a compustar 9000 put in by a company that does lot's of new mitsu vehicle add ons, I have been told that I need a third key for them to program the compustar. I also have a 2007 outlander xls which doesn't need the extra key for programming. I will have both vehicles done in the next couple of weeks, BTW I live in Edmonton.

Better hire someone who is really into electronics because if he screw up that would be a major problem.

They usually need your spare key or the chip so they can use it to start your car.

Ever since I''ve bought my Lancer if I turn the key to the "ON" position without starting it fully it makes the "clicking sounds" I think you''re refereing to.  I''m guesing its normal?

LOL

Hello kids it''s the Eletronic Fuel Injection (EFI) it is pumping fuel in the car. That is the sound that you here when you start the NEW Lancer.. TICK TICK TICK AND IT DISAPPEAR AFTER A FEW SECONDS

I don''t recommend buying a different kind of remote or remote started for the Lancer.

Used factory remote from Mitsu

remote starter is more of fancy feature than security, and it could hurt the car in a long run. that''s why it''s avail but not factory standard even on the most expensive cars.
(*) for modern cars, each component should register its status to its main computer (ECU); it''s advised that you should wait to have all of the chiming sound off before starting your car.
(*) not only does remote starter by-pass your car security feature, it also takes away each component registration time. engine could still start/run but with partial/incomplete status of each component.
...
I had had remote starter in early ''90s, and after understanding its minus, against its convenience, i decided not to own it again... since i''m caring more for my car ;)
