Id clear the cat... but if you remove TOO much of the back pressure youll actually LOSE power. Remember, you have a turbo charged car, it depends on its exhaust.

i dont think you can remove too much back pressure in a turbo car, its already forcing air through the exhaust housing fast enough, too big really only becomes an issue on an NA car. Stock or not removing the cat makes more difference than any other part on the exhaust. Just remember its loud, smelly, and illegal. But as for your 3 foot custom exhaust, that sounds pretty big to me...

yea you could or just spend the few bucks since its already a custom exhaust and get a universal high flow cat.....just a thought

cuting a cat is ghetto, especially since it has bolts. buy a strait pipe if you dont want it, but id not even worry about it until you upgrade your exhaust all together. ps, your gona want that cat when you visit the smog ref

yea cutting your cat off will make your car's emissions illegal, and you need to keep that legal in order for it to pass e-check and to renew your plates... just buy a high flow cat or leave well enough alone

where are you getting this custom exhaust done. Make sure that they can do 3" MANDREL bent piping. Because alot of people will only be able to do up to 2.5". Just my 0.02 cents

there was a write up in import tuner on removing the cat or going w/ a high flow cat the difference between the test pipe and the high flow was one hp
going w/ a high flow will save you a ticket but then again no cat is cheaper but still illegal

if it's only 1 hp difference, i'd say go the cheapest route and just keep the stock cat

Yeah I'm finding that out the hard way. I have a HKS Muffler with the 3'' inlet and I cant find any place to do it for me...
Question tho, are you suppose to go over or under the axle with 3''? Under the axle would work right because thats where all the shops say no is when they see the bend to go over the axle.
