Yet another question, what exactly is the difference between a 6 bolt and a 7 bolt? as in, what makes the 6 bolt better? and is a 4 bolt rearend the only one? if not, is it the best?

6 bolt has stronger rods, better design of oil squirters, bigger bearings, stronger wrist pins, and the thrust bearing doesnt wear like the 7 bolts do. ( the crankwalk ****)
4 bolt rear is the better of the two,
the 3 bolts were in 90 and 91 for the most part along with the 6 bolt motors
4 bolts rears started in 92. - then the 7 bolt motor came about in 92.5 - thats why the 92-92.5 cars (4bolt / 6 bolt) are the best ones to have as far as right out of the factory goes.
the sad part is ive stripped down at least five or six pre 92.5 4/6 cars and most people cant even find one. 3 of them being lasers that they barely made any of for 92
confused yet?

interesting. Damn mitsubishi, and their idiotic minds. What were they thinking to change a good engine?

they thought they were doing it better by making a lighter bottom end, dont get me wrong a 7 bolt motor is almost as bulletproof as a 6 bolt other than the thrust bearing wearing out.
ive seen plenty of 7 bolts used in racing with a stock bottom end and survive just fine.
its long term that eats up that bearing and the crank.

So a 7 bolts not bad, but if I was a choice, go for a 6 bolt. Right? Just to get your guys opinion, how much do you think a 94 Talon ES with a blown engine is worth? From what I under stand that's all that's wrong with it, I haven't seen it yet.

it all depends on the condition of the rest of the car., but i honestly wont pay any more than $500 for a car with a blown up motor, even if its really nice.
i got my 93tsi for $400 with a blown up motor and my 91 with a broken timing belt for $200, and theyre both really nice cars.
.. the 6 bolt motor is always the way to go. unless you already have a good running 7 bolt.
putting a 6 bolt in 1g is easy, you just have to use the 6 bolt flywheel.

Alright, cool. I'll start off low, and if he gets too high, I'll just tell him to find someone else. Thanks for all the info.

if its 100% clean car, no defects anywhere im sure its worth more than $500
you be the judge on what its worth to you
