So far our SUV is the only one with this engine. Does anyone know if there are plans for mitsu or any other partner company to use the same engine? I really hope they do use it on another car/truck or suv because it would only mean one thing, AFTERMARKET. I highly doubt anyone would develop parts for just one car, specially an SUV, so lets all hope mitsu drops this great engine into yet another great car. May be the next Galant could be a good candidate. Who knows? anyone?

I think Mitsubishi is in a bit of a pickle between using the 3.0 versus the 3.8.

What they need is the power of their 3.8, with the economy of the 3.0

I can see Mitsubishi using the 3.0 more to get the better economy numbers due to higher gas prices and stricter EPA averages coming

Maybe the next Railyart Lancer!  Or do away with the 2.4L in the Eclipse GS and use the 3.0.

I dont think adding our engine to the GS would be fair to the GT.lol. bnilguy, I'm happy with the engine we got, its a verry nice compromise between power and economy.

Mitsu may even put it in the next gen Galant. 3 line 2.4, 3.0, 3.8.  All 3 are about equally space in hp and tq.  Or Mutsu could drop the 2.4 because the 3.0 have better emmisions and I think better fuel economy.

Yeah the 3.0 defenetly has better fuel economy than the 2.4 or at least equal. It may not be so on paper, but on the road it says different.

the 2.4 liter "world" engine will be available in next years outlander.   And you can expect that engine in most of their upcoming cars (the lancer has the 2.0 liter version of it currently).
the 3.8 liter iron block is still the better choice for the bigger cars produced in Normal, Ill. (the galant, eclipse, endeavor).
you probably will see the new 3.0 liter in something, but who knows what?

The 4b12, the engine brews is talking about will use 0w-20, and you guys thought that the 5w-20 on our engines was to thin..lol, think again.hehe.

I agree that it's a good compromise.. I've been pleased with my economy and I don't think I've really floored it yet or NEEDED more power.. Heck with gas as it is, you'd be crazy to do it too much

It's when you see the RAV4 V6 with almost 50 hp more and getting better EPA numbers, that you see some room for improvement in the numbers game...they're getting their cake and eating it too...the only problem is that it's in a RAV4 :D  Not that I'd trust a Toyota engine with  all their sludging and now the camshafts are locking up in the Tundras
