6G72 engine sorratic choking

i have an SOHC 6G72 mitsubishi 3L v6 in my 92 plymouth duster, and recently its been randomly sputtering and if im not careful, stalling on me. it is almost completely random and when it happens, i have to add more trottle to keep it going, or if im stopped, heel/toe it to keep it alive. one suggestion i heard is that something in teh cat might've broken off and occasionally clogs the exhaust. any other ideas? thanks.

If your catalyst or exhaust was clogged, you're more than likely going to feel it during hi exhaust flow situations rather than idle. Have you recently changed your battery or required a jump start due to a dead battery? All you need to do in this situation is removing the intake hose and clean the bore around the throttle plate with a rag and throttle body cleaner (do not spray directly into the intake). Good Luck!

To check up the catalyst is hammered whether or not is very simple. It is necessary to bring a hand to an exhaust pipe and to feel force of impact of gases. And as if the catalyst gases will heat very strongly is hammered

is it an automatic? if it is does it happen when you are coming to a stop after driving over 45 mph? if is is it might be the tourque converter clutch solinoid. My friend had a cavilier that did it but if you gave it the right amount of gas it would shift and not stall... just an idea....

I am a little late, but when you clean the throttle body you should remove the IAC motor and clean around it too. It is the thing with the tan plastic cover, mounted on the throttle body just below the intake opening. It has a six prong plug attached to it. Remove the whole unit by unscrewing the two hex/phillips screws that hold the unit to the TB. Do not unscrew the two little phillips screws with the blue paint on them. It would then be good to check the IAC with a multimeter. Here is a good link.

it is a FWD 5 speed, ill see about cleaning up teh TB and IAC and see if that helps
