this is a custom job, as you need to replace the whole shifter assembly in addition to the tranny etc. Doing it yourself would be the best way, but if you hvae no idea what you are doing, then I would suggest finding someone very knowledgable with cars, preferably eclipses, do it for you and pay them. If you go to any shop expect to pay way more than its worth.

my friends dad did it to his brother's 3oozx a couple years ago. Took him a long time. Worked well though. I saw you posted on sddsm.org too, if you live in sd then im sure SDTurbo or itsstockofficer could do it. they quoted you $5000, not worth it in my opinion but if you must have it thats probly the best price you'll find

Hello everyone. I found a 1998 Eclipse GSX with 66,000 miles on it and the guy wants $12,900 Canadian for it. Is it a good buy? It is an automatic, what is involved in a swap from an automatic to a standard? I have a mechanic who will do it for nothing, I need to know exactly what is required to do the swap. Also will there be any problems or anything I should be concerned about? Any information from everyone would be greatly appreciated.

are you buying new parts from a dealer or tearing them out of an old eclipse? i am doing the same thing to my 95 eclipse and there are a couple of problems that i have encountered. mitsubishi changed their bodystyle around 1991, so the pedal clusters are different. check to make sure the brake pedal doest curve to the left. if it does, you have to change the pedals to make room for a clutch pedal. what drivetrain does the car have? FWD is easier to swap trannys in as the gear ratios in AWD are different. also, if you are getting parts from somewhere that has extras, would you tell me where? i got quoted about$5000 for parts. good luck

I will be tearing them out of an old Eclipse or Talon. It is a GSX so the car is an AWD. Can I use any transmission fom any Eclipse or Talon within the same year? Or does it have to be an AWD Eclipse or Talon? Or do I forget about the Talon all together?
