I have a 96 GSX and would like to know if it is possible to change from an automatic to a Manual Trans?

it is possible, but takes a good amount of work and may take some money if you dont have the resources. Because really it would be nice to have a donor car to take the parts from. Your gonna need: manual tranny, shifter cables, shifter assembly, master cylinder, clutch and brake pedal assembly, slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel, and im sure theres more. But all in all your probably looking at like 2k in parts maybe alittle more, then there is the labor which will take about a day, i your mechanically inclined.

But this really is only good if you have something to get all these parts off of. Check out www.vfaq.com in the drivetrain section and there is a writeup in there for doing it on a 1g, it should be about the same for a 2g

The link you suggested looks like it is for a Galant.  I would imagin the drive train set up would not fit in an eclipse without much customer work.  Do you know if a manual trans out of a eclipse of similar year would have the drive pad for the Tranfer Case.  I would think not.  Do you even know if the GSX came with a manual transmission.

yes, actually most came stock with the manual. And how do you get that its for a galant. It says 1g fwd swap. I know...fwd....but there isnt to much difference between the two besides that it has a driveshaft and a transfer case. The list are parts required for the swap is still gonna hold true. You are gonna need a donor junk car to get all the parts, otherwise the cost for new stuff will make it not worth doing.

What you need is a manual tranny out of any 95-99 eclipse AWD. any of those will go with the T-case. or if you wanted and could only find a 1g, i think you can use the tranny from them, but then you will need the t-case from the 1g as well because the splines will be different
