I have a 97 Spyder Conv with 2 spun crank bearings. I picked up a motor today out of a 96 Avenger but it's backwards. The motor in the Spyder is a single overhead cam (I believe a 2.4) I would like to put a DOHC in it but don't know if it's possible (not much experience with this kind of car and don't really want to get involved in too many mods). The motor in the Spyder is mounted (if standing in front of car and looking at engine) with the pullies to the right, flywheel to the left, intake towards firewall and exhaust toward the grill. It appears that some Mitsubishi engines are installed the other way around. I guess my questions are... What type of engine do I have, what engines can I use to replace it, can I have a 2.0 DOHC installed and if so, what kind. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!!!
