I just bought a 98 eclipse gst and i want to know what is a safe boost increase with everything stock except i'm going to put on the greddy front mount intercooler. So my question is: what is the stock boost set at and how much can i increase the boost on the stock turbo and stock motor?

hmm thats a good question. im not sure. whats the stock boost #? you got a boost gauge? i think 12lbs is safe for stock if you going with the front mount intercooler. i read in a magazine some where that you can increase boost. but ill have to read it again and get back to you.

ok here it is the guys in "import tuner" magazine has a 1991 eclipse and it was turbocharged. he used a fish pump manifolid its made of polymer which by the way nasa uses. so no worries on failure. heres how it works... cut the vacuum line and place the manifold in the line with the two sides. ensure that the manifold valves are in the closed position. you should be able to blow through one side of the valve with air only comming through one side, the opposite end of the valve. and not the rest of the ports. to increase boost pressure, open one of the valves unit the vehicle hits the desired boost level. if more boost is needed simply open more valves.

a buy a boost gauge so u can see what you are doing
b buy a boost controller so u can adjust it
c buy a bov so you can increase your boost without it leaking away
16psi is fine, stock is around 11-12
