ACT is okay. Its known to have tranny lockout in the higher revs...
the EXEDY is actually the best for the EVOs. Very much worth the price.

yea what he said
If you do a search for tranny lockout in the evo section i believe emonz did a nice little write-up one time on exactly what it is and how its caused. But generally the ACT have been notorious for it. On an eclipse the act is fine but for an evo i think exedy and tilton are the best

I have an ACT HDSS clutch with absolutely no lockout issues in the higher rpm's. The lockout will occur if you don't have the clutch pedal adjusted correctly.

Past the stock rev limit
I usually shift around 7800 - 7900 rpm.

certain ACT combos work but not alot of them
1 year + on an ACT street disc, no issues.

you also are close to stock. when pulled over 7500RPMs and making decent HP ACT clutchs have a tendancy to lock the tranny from shifts

I bought my evo from a guy that took it to the dealer when he burn't out the first clutch,my question is did mitsubishi replace the first clutch with the same one so you get all the same problems or did they make it stronger.
EMonz57

they replace it with a stock one otherwise youll viod your warrenty. the stock clutch is not that bad if you drive the car and not try to race the car all the damn time. my stock clutch lasted 41k and still had plenty of life left on it when I upgraded. I never really launched the car and never went to the track on it

The stock clutch is soft so if you make alot of power it wont hold well but I had every bolt on with my stock clutch with the exception of cams which I added later and my clutch still held on to all those mods for over a year

Hey Xtreme, got a quick question about the MB7-HDSS ACT clutch. On the ACT site, it states that the torque capacity is 508. Is that 508 the max capacity at the wheels or crank?

i wouldnt even worry about that anyway. 508Tq at the wheels means like 650HP or more unless your on a stroker.

I spent Thousands on an Exedy triple disk carbon....that lasted about 900 miles. I called and e-mailed Exedy and got no response and no help from them at all. I was just looking for an answer to the problem but I never even got a reply. Plus it rattled like crazy. I went to the Act 6 puck race set up with the ACT flywheel. I'm running 624whp and 512wtq ( hopefully more when I get the car back ) and haven't had any clutch related problems yet. The nice purple Exedy looks great hanging on the wall tho.
