Hey I''m new to the site. I was just wondering if anyone owns a 2009 Lancer. What they think about it. And how much they paid for it. I really like the looks of the car. The inside wasnt bad either. I was at the local dealership Monday looking at a red one. it was the GTS CVT model. Sun and Sound package with everything else besides the Navi. For 22,008 bucks. I didnt get to test drive it. They were about to close. But I''m going next week. I just wanna know if I will be investing 22000 + bucks into something that will be fun to drive and that will last me. Any info will be greatly apperciated! Thanks

Hey man I just bought a 09 a month ago not even had a lot of trouble with the low pressure power steering line had to take it in twice I bought a 09 Lancer ES Sport w/ Standard transmission glad I got the sport it was another $800 but i felt it was worth it I bought it in Ocala, Fl I went to 13 dealerships before I bought it I ended up under $17,000 out the door Its is not the GTS with the 2.4L, but whatever. The 2.0L has enough power to get the job done, though. Feels great handles well I think you''ll love it too! Engine is kinda noisy as well as the A/C clutch kicking in and out but otherwise I love it!

I bought an 09 ES a few weeks back.. Test drove a bunch of vehicles, and the new lancer was great.  I opted to get the SE over the GTS just for the fuel economy.  But the SE is quick enough to easily pass cars on the highway.  You''''ll love the car, its great!

I bought my ''09 Lancer GTS M/T a week ago (also in Rally Red it so happens). Love it so far. I have both the Sun and Sound Package and the Navigation Package and walked out of there $22,150 lighter. Worth it in my opinion.

I test drove the ES, also in manual, and the GTS just has much more pop to it. I think it''s worth the extra cash, but I''m also a sucker for speed. All in all the car handles very well, slightly jumpy on rough surfaces, but not too bad. One thing I noticed about the GTS over the ES is the GTS is slightly more weighted (or so it feels when you drive it) giving you a more solid feel when driving.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, I''ll be happy to answer them.

i Think it is heavier because of the rims 18 on GTS and ES 16. Mine is 16 on my ES.

But the engine are the same. I don''t see making it more faster than the ES
especially with your big wings and rims.

But I am glad you bought a bargain with everything with it not a Mazda3 or 6 that everyone in Massachusetts are driving.

I love to see a rare car on the road when everyone are driving the same car like Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Mazda.

When you see those cars you feel special because you don''t see a 2008 Lancer all the time.

That''s how I feel.

The engines aren''t the same in the GTS and ES. The ES is a 2.0 liter, 152hp engine. The GTS is a 2.4 liter, 168hp engine. The wings and rims might not make it faster, but the extra 16 horses sure do.

Seriously, what is up with Mazda''s in MA?? Everywhere I go I see someone in one of those things, which is one of the main reasons it wasn''t on my radar while buying. Something nice about being an individual. Nice car, but the new ''09 GTS is giving it a run for it''s money. Can''t wait to put a little work into it (once it''s paid off).

FYI

Sorry I was talking about 2008 Lancer GTS and ES not the 2009 model.

I have seen the interior of the 2009 Lancer but not the engine.

I saw one at Westborough Mitsubishi. I also noticed that the gas cover is aluminum and the interior is Carbon Fiber and dash I think is Blue light not red.

Funny I was planning to buy some Carbon Fiber to put on my 2008 dash. coincidentally Mitsubishi has the same Idea and they also put the carbon fiber on the dash lining and doors on the 2009 model.

Yes Mazda are all over Massachusetts. I think the consumer behavior of people of MA are typical stereo type. They think when someone drives a Mazda they have to buy it too. I didn''t buy the Mazda because it is not really a great car and nothing special about it.

Just a new platform and better interior but nothing to brag about . Interior is nice but who cares even a Yaris or Hyundai have nice interior.

I bought the Lancer because the way it looks that no other Japanese car has.
Sharky,Fast,Great sound system with the 650 Rockford Fosgate system, the Paddle shifter, the interior, 7 airbags instead of 5, easy to install after market parts, GREAT ON CURVES great on snows, great on mileage if you don''t have a heavy foot etc etc etc.

I agree the older Lancer wasn''t appealing because Mitsubishi was too busy perfecting the drive train, the AWD system etc etc. Now they perfected everything .

Let see what else they develop that can make the Lancer a better car than the Mazda.

by the way my dealer said.

You can request different interior and exterior for your 2009 Lancer but depends if they have it stock.

Like Aluminum gas cover,Recaro seat on a GTS, Brembo brakes, wings on a ES etc etc. they said just buy the accessories and install them.

they all fit together except for the engine.
