I want to buy a cat-back exaust for my 2000 GT but I cant decide whitch manufacturer i want. Does anybody have any suggestins on the best one? I want the one with the most horsepower gain and a nice deep sound. These are the ones that I was looking at. Tanabe, 5Zigen, Greddy Evo, Invidia, Injen, Thermal Research. If anybody has any better makers please tell me.

Invidia i perfect for future plans if turbo or Ripps SDS are in the cards I had it on my 02 GT, it is loud and very deep and does NOT drown out like Greddy EVO at high rpms. Greddy EVO is quiet but throaty nice tone friend has it on his 01 GT...and ive had apexi N1 as well on my 00 GS that is as loud as invidia but didnt sound as good

To me invidia is the best exhaust product for power since it is 2.75 in pipeing versus 2.5 or 2.25 like the others...Also keep in mind 2G GST exhaust will fit youll just have to cut off the hangers and swap them onto the other side. But that means you could go 3 inch if you reall y intend to boost later other wise 3 inch is too big

GReddy Evo II

it is a great Exhaust but I dont think that is the sound he is looking for. Greddy is not deep it is not loud and if you have an intake it gets drown out by the intake sound after about 4500rpms the exhaust you cant even hear even cars behind will hear the intake over the exhaust. That is why I said Invidia because it is very loud in comparison and intake noise doesnt overtake it plus it is very deep.

Either way you cant lose

I thank everybody for the suggestions. I dont think ill turbo it later on since it has some miles on it so im gonna stay away from the GST exausts but i do want to get intake headers and straight piping. Is this going to be a problem since the Invidia is 2.75 or can I still do a straight piping?

i have the Thermal R&D Catback exhaust and it sounds great from Idle - redline. Deep, solid, and loud. Keep in mind i also have OBX Racing headers, downpipe and high flow cat though, the sound may change withought these things but they are prety cheap on e-bay.

...Greddy is not deep...

UUMmmmmm... My GReddy EVO II is quite deep and loud. Once I got over 3500 RPM it gets more quiet.. but between 1500 and 3500... you can't hear yourself think and its so deep my heart wants to skip a beat. haha

...i just have no clue how it'd work with turbo stuff.. never delt with that.

well there is a big difference from the sound you will get with a 420a and the sound you will get with a 4g72.

aahh.. gotcha.. WELL THEN... for a 420a its pretty friggin deep and loud, as said in the description above. It's really smooth sounding though.. me love it.. I wish I could have sex with it, but, I'm not that big..

its a 6G72 V6 motor. and the greddy if you read what I said lol I said it drowns out up high and it really is NOT deep man it is more of a smooth soft tone loud but not that loud.

I already metion Apexi N1 as well up top.

You're very confusing EMonz

It makes noise but you cant call it loud, it is much louder than stock but it is still a soft note . it has a very smooth sound and the exhaust note dies after the intake starts screaming in higher RPMs.

Compaired to stock it is loud compaired to invidia or Apexi it is very quiet

mine is not loud. just a low growl at idle and at cruising speed. once above 4000rpms, you can start to hear it.

well thats not because of the Evo II. do you still have a cat? gutted cat? straight pipe?
mysterio2099

still has the stock cat. But, that would make it more quiet, wouldn't it? lol

there is something seriously wrong with your exhaust system if the Evo II gives you headaches. faulty install. bad gaskets. something. i can drive mine for two hours straight on the interstate and i can't even tell that i have an aftermarket exhaust. and thats with a V6.

I never said my evoII gave me headaches.. I said it almost makes my head explode.. refering to the deep tone ... when I describe it to people I say it gives my brain a massage, lol.. so no, nothing is faulty.

I agree man your exhaust isnot supposed to be to loud although you have a 420a so who knows but on the 3Gs it is not loud at all. Like said you cant hear it after 5000 RPMs if you have an intake because the intake sound drowns it out.

It is very smooth and soothing compaired to loud stuff. at cruiseing speeds the EVO I or II is barley noticeable, especially on a GT since stock exhaust is rather loud to begin with

I've got some Old ass GReddy system that they don't make anymore. LOL It's really nice and quiet which suprised me, well until i lifted the car for the first time on a lift. I have my Stock Cat and 2 resignators. lol! no wonder it's so quiet.

I've always had a thing for GReddy products. don't know, call me a consumer whore i guess
I've also heard very good things about Borla exhausts, though I dont' know if they make ones for the mitsus.
