I did a search and did not find anything to address this.

We recently had out brakes checked and the Mitsubishi service people said they were fine.
The brake light is constantly on.

I tried pulling up the emergency brake and then putting it back down (kind of like a reset) and it didn't change anything - light is still on.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Johnny

Check the brake fluid level.  Disconnect the float sensor and see if the light goes out.  Also pull the connector off for the e-brake and see if it goes out.

its most likely your ebrake sensor, there is no such thing as a sensor that says your brake pads or rotors are bad, besides the pin.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

Can you explain how to do this in the simplest way possible?
Is this something I can check on my own?

Well u have to do one at a time but disconnect the e-brake sensor if it stays on its not it and do the same thing to the float sensor under the hood.  If the light goes out when you do that then thats your problem.

There could be a small chance if your abs module is shot it can keep the brake light on.  Happen to once on a sable.

There is an sensor that measure brake pad wear, there had them on the newer mercury cougars.  It was part of the pad.
