Buying a 2G Gsx, anything extra i need to know

Ok well i posted on here earlier about getting rid of my 300zx and im looking for a gsx.  I had a 1G about a year ago and it was a good car but i really like the look of the 2G's and i kind of have a history with them :) .  Anyways i know the infamous crank walk of the 2G 4g63 but i heard that it was less apparent in the 98-99 because they changed some oil lines or something. I also heard if they were going to walk it would probably be before roughly 90k. Is there any truth to this and what else should i look for?  Oh and btw i found a 98 with 137k on it and it was inspected by a good mechanic and is good working order.  Is this a good idea or do these 2G gsx's still conk out?  thanks

All second generation 4G63 turbo cars get crankwalk. All depends on when. Some get it waaay early and some get it at 150k, and some have never got it. All the luck of the draw.
 
All things considered, go for it.

all 7bolt motors get crank walk not just 2nd gen it is a small fault in bearings and some of the oil journals in the stock motor.

Yeah i forgot about that. The tail end of the 1g's had 7 bolts too.

How much is he asking for the GSX?

he wants 7g's right now but im gonna offer 6 because with that high of mileage im probably gonna be the last owner...

Yeah I wouldn't pay more than 6 for it.

For 7 you can get one with a race motor and race tranny.

yea 7 is a freakin rip off... oh and you can swap a 6-bolt motor (that used in the early 1g's) and not have to worry about crankwalk

If its in good running order and is really clean then 6k is good. Dont get too hung up on the crankwalk thing. It does happen quite alot but just keep up on maintenance of the oil, disconnect the clutch switch as a precaution.
 
I had a 95 with 130k on it and it hadnt crankwalked and i beat the **** out of it. But i sold it i think just in time cuz im willing to bet it only had another year on it before it happened. That or the motor fell out cuz of the rust in the engine bay
 
Just make sure you take your time to look it over first.

I would like to buy a shell and just drop a jdm 6-bolt in it along with the rest of the guts but being that im a student and not that good yet with cars i dont have the time money or expertise to do it and do it right so i dont have problems down the road.  I'm hoping by the time i get my next car ill be knowledgeable enough let alone have the time to do an engine swap because right now im looking to get this done over winter break.  Thanks guys for all the advice though.

Alright so I found another gsx.  Its a 95 with 74k on it and was adult driven for its lifetime.  What do you guys know within the 2nd generation as in problems, recalls, changes etc. ?  Thanks

Well I'm talking to him right now because I want to straight up trade him my 300zx and hes interested so i hope it works out so i can be back in the dsm world!!!

Dude finding one for that mileage in decent condition is reeeally hard. They would normally be upwards of 8k+.

Yea this sounds like a nice 2g to start with that kinda miles. I would get it if you have the cash and its a good deal. No need to do a 6-bolt swap on that car

hes asking 8300 cash, not bad but i dont think id give him that much. if i could sell my Z now i could probably fetch what hes looking to get but thats way too hopeful.  anyways ill keep everything you guys said in mind for when i can actually get one.
