I have a 1997 Montero Sport, V6, 3.0 L. It had a fire under the dashboard. I have replaced everything. It started right up, but I was unble to drive it. The gear cables have been changed. Still will not move. It was towed to the garage. Don't know if tow truck driver disconnected anything to get it to move. Any help that is given would be greatly appreciated, for it is 16 below 0 here and I have been without for almost 2 months. Thanks for everything.

Once wires under the dash are burnt up (I.E. Wiring Harness) you are pretty much taking shots in the dark. I suggest the dealership, I know it sounds like MONEY but you could be messing around wire for wire another 2-3 months. It could be a myraid of things.

Thanks for the suggestion Chad...but returning to the dealer is not an option for me. I live 1000+ miles from the nearest dealer, and the only way in or out of my town is by air. But thanks again.

WOW, I had no idea. Best bet is to then get a tester for the wiring. See which ones are getting a signal and which ones are not. Then running it down to find out the potential problem. Sorry I can't offer more.
