Im going to buy a cat back exhaust. Should I just buy every thing after the header or should the header be replaced to? And I want to remove or hollow out the catlac converter. How do I do that and what needs to be done after I do that? Its a 95 gs none turbo.

The law dont matter its going to be over the sound limit any way. I just need to know what to do because I read about somthing with a check engine like coming on or somthing.

Is this exhaust systom with out a cat? I dont see one and it says it has a resonator. Whats a  resonator could i hollow it out? Because I know it must be in to make it quiet. And also what happens with the oxegen sincer? I read that it will say check engine once  the exhaust is all opened up. I was toled nothing bad will happen. Is it true?

that is a cat-back exhaust... it will attach on right behind the cat... and dont hollow out the resonator it will make it sound terrible, and so will not running a cat, trust me! i did it on my rs and regretted it... i wound up buying a whole  new midpipe... just keep ur cat, get an exhaust with a resonator, and call it a day

^^^^agreed.  There is no purpose for you to remove the cat, you will see zero gains from it
and it will sound ricey as hell.

Hows it hook up to the cat? Do I need to buy a new cat? Because the one on my car is welded on in place.

And so this exhaust still hooks up to a cat????  To me looks like its the full thing and next thing is header?

no that flange should bolt up to the cat... and if urs is welded on the yes you would have to buy another one, you can buy a high flow magnaflow or something from summit racing

And if i was to weld in a 1-2ft pipe between where the cat should be what would I do with the oxegen sensor? Nothing just let it be?

im assuming that if u take off ur cat then you dont need the o2 sensor anymore... but im telling you, do NOT remove the cat, it will sound TERRIBLE!!

You wont need the sensor.. but you should still bolt it up. You can just put it in the same place as the stock.

That looks like an ebay exhaust.......

Yeah its a ebay exhaust. Costs about $200.

And what is a resinator???

And by sounding bad what sounds bad about it? Dont cars get a deaper tone when you remove the cat?

not with ur 420... i took off the resonator on my rs, and between 3-5K rpm's it got really "whiny", or farty as some would say.  it sounded awful! real high pitched an nasty... thats just the curse of those cars.  the resonator on ur 420a will actually be the thing the gives it a deeper tone, so please please please trust me when i say keep the resonator, and keep the cat!  you'll thank me when you do

And you say nothing about the ebay exhaust?

eBay is NOT a performance parts store. 99% of the stuff on there is absolute sh!t, including that exhaust.

Called a catback.  Not really looking for performance just want it to be louder.

sorry, i meant to mention it and i forgot... and notice the name "catback"... meaning the exhaust is from the cat... back lol... but NO ebay stuff either... its not good at all... just by trying to save money now you will regret it later

So Will any aftermarket cat hook up to te hheader and rest of the exhaust?

And how fat is the stock exhaust piping on a 420a?

it's 2.25in... they're made to bolt up to ur cat, not ur header

Well the catbacks are only 2.25 also. So whats the point of buying one then if its not flowing any extra air? Ill just keep the stock exhust then because it dont seem like the catback would do much good.

How much does it cost to have a streight pipe welded in where the muffler should be so i dont have to run a fart can?

That would sound like ****.  If you want to do something like that buy a greddy or apexi can, and have it welded in place of your stock mufler.  But in my personal opinion you should just stop being cheap and buy a full greddy or apexi exhaust.  It is true you wont see much gain but it will have a really nice deep tone.

it will sound like crap, when i first pulled my car outta the shop i didnt have a muffler for the first week and i wanted to kill myself.... and the difference with a full exhaust and ur stock is it is made with mandrel bends, and has smoother "lines", it WILL free up ur exhaust and WILL sound the best... I dunno why you're not takin our advice on this. And trust me, if you cheap out you'll regret it later, and you'll probably get laughed at with the way your car will sound... just telling you from experience
