Cheap Fitted Muffler ~PLEASE HELP~

OK, Im new to this forum, but i really need some help. I have a 1998 Eclipse RS, 2.0 liter non-turbo.

I am looking for a nice fitted muffler, not cat-back exaust, just the muffler and the connecting pipe. (basically so i just have to jack the car up and bolt it on). My price range is around $300, give or take a few. I want a nice throaty, semi-loud, low tone that revs up nicely to get some attention. (think along the lines of the 95 eclipse in The Fast and the Furious). If you guys could give me some suggestions that would be a huge help!

Just get the cat back you can still use jackstands to put it on, and its only like a 100-200 more and it will sound a million times better.

Catback will be easier to fit as well.

for $245.00 you can get your self a cat back buddy.......(better yet, purchase a muffler..then get a cat back fittings.)

Seems like evryone's advising you to get a catback, PaintMunky(i like that name btw). While the catback will give more gains and better sound, and to a certain extent would be easier to install, just getting the muffler would be cheaper. The catback exhaust install on eclipses are very easy, despite being on jacks. The hardest part may just be breaking the cat converter nuts loose. I am unsure(since i never really paid attention to my stock exhaust setup), but i think in order to to just put a muffler on, you'd need to cut the old one off and weld the new one on. I don't remember seeing a flange sitting before the muffler, however i could be mistaken. But keep in mind that if you do need to cut and weld, it's much more difficult(and dangerous) than just bolting on a pre-made exhaust. A good idea is to check around at local shops. Some shops can give you pretty good deals on custom made systems, and some will include free installation if it's over a certain price. $300 is very flexible, spend it so that you'll enjoy what you have.
