). While the catback will give more gains and better sound, and to a certain extent would be easier to install, just getting the muffler would be cheaper. The catback exhaust install on eclipses are very easy, despite being on jacks. The hardest part may just be breaking the cat converter nuts loose. I am unsure(since i never really paid attention to my stock exhaust setup), but i think in order to to just put a muffler on, you'd need to cut the old one off and weld the new one on. I don't remember seeing a flange sitting before the muffler, however i could be mistaken. But keep in mind that if you do need to cut and weld, it's much more difficult(and dangerous) than just bolting on a pre-made exhaust. A good idea is to check around at local shops. Some shops can give you pretty good deals on custom made systems, and some will include free installation if it's over a certain price. $300 is very flexible, spend it so that you'll enjoy what you have.
