My 2 gen clipse 4g63t is getting a new rebuilt head. Just wondering If any of this work will reduce my chance of getting crankwalk? ( if it ever happens)

the crank is in the block, so how could a head help that?

Yeah none of that will at all. Just check your main thrust bearing clearence and make sure its still in spec.

No not really. There is a guide online showing you how to do it yourself. And no, the head job wont do a thing for crankwalk.

so these cars have bad crankwalk?
I think one of the most interesting things becides the suspension on a car is the engine. you ought to read up on it... howstuffworks.com is pretty simple, thats what I read.

All crankwalk is bad lol... but only the 7 bolts get it.

sebba: when I say bad, I mean it happens often? (you know what I mean)
nyofas: what are you talking about man? no one ever said you don't know nothing except you in your 3rd post. Check out that site, cause seriously... it's interesting to know how your engine works. I would bet money theres somethign on there that you don't know (if your being scarcastic?).

I have heard that magnus motor sports has what they so far have shown to be a simple solution to the crankwalk BTW. It is not totally proven since we all know it takes some time to develop crankwalk, but they have said by simply putting in the oil squiters from the 1g into the 2g you will reduce your chances of crankwalk. Just a note

Thats only a theory. There is no actual way to prevent yourself from getting it with a 7 bolt. ANY 7 bolt is of high risk of getting crankwalk. There is no telling when this is going to happen but there are symptoms and these can be found all over the internet. There is ways of delaying this process. For example NEVER hold down the clutch when starting the car.

what do you mean never hold down the clutch when starting the car. How else are you supposed to start it, haha

You remove the safety device that stops you from starting it. I removed it on mine

1g could be a 7 bolt

yeah mine is removed also. I actually was thinking of call the shop to tell them to leave it like that just in case they think it is not supposed to be like that

They will leave it. Trust me they wont do any work that they dont have to.

I tried to remove the safty button for the clutch and it didn't let me start the car. Sebba can you explain how you got it to work on yours?

wow and you owed a DSM??? lol startup is the worst thing for the 7bolt motors when the clutch is used too it really causes low oil pressure
