Manybrews said this on page 4 post 38.

the cars with standard headlights have foglights you can control.
the cars with HID lights have those foglights turned into non-controllable DRLs.

Also...this has been talked about in other posts too. I hope you are so enlightened that all lights are green for you!

In XLSs with HID then, would you even consider those DRLs as real foglights? 27W for DRLs vs 55W for LS foglight kit. Do the math, the manual doesn't even call them foglights (DRLs in XLSs). And you may want to check Post #15 on page 2 of this thread about what Manybrews said regarding HIDs and DRLs, link here: http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/fb.asp?m=120374

This discussion is running in circles again LOL.
What MANYBRES was saying is that on the LS w/foglights and base XLS (without Luxury Package which includes the HIDs), the foglights DO perform as foglights and they are controllable.
However, for the XLS with Luxury, which icludes the HID, the foglights "turned into non-controllable DRL". So YES, those "foglights" are NOT foglights anymore in the XLS w/HID, but DRL which are "non-controllable". He doesn't claim otherwise at all.
I think the confusion here is between the two XLS configurations: with and without HIDs. I think we all know that not all XLSs come with HIDs, right? HIDs are part of the Luxury Package, which is optional on the XLS.Therefore , what physically look like foglights in ALL XLS models, function differently depending on the car's configuration. On the LS models, the foglights, when installed as accessory, always function as foglights.
Simple enough isn't it?

You seriously have to be ****ting me.  I just copy and pasted manybrews. He said in english, cars with HID lights have those foglights turned into non-controllable DRLs. No one is saying that the DRL lights are 55w fog lights. We keep saying that when you purchase the luxuary package with HID lights then they are no longer fog lights. dodo2 is also saying the exact same thing.

LS with fog lights 55w bulbs. Real fog lights
XLS with fog lights 55w bulbs. Real fog lights NOT HID NOT LUXUARY
XLS with DRL are 27w bulbs. DRL NOT fog lights. This is with the HID LUXUARY option.

Come on guys. Look at the bright side of these discussions. There are no other serious issues to talk about, which is a good thing. It means the Outlander is a good car, so we have to keep ourselves busy, don't we?

I moved on hahahaha. My new goal is to take out the baby 10" sub. Then add an amp. Then install a new 10" super sub. It sounds great inside of my head but now the hard part is going to be actually doing it.

I couldnt resist. Buy these white light xenon fog lights. They even come with a switch to controll them and put out white HID simulated light. Make your LS an inbred XLS with HID controllable fog lights. HAHA, that should stir up some replies. Did I mention 72.77 and 9.95. That beats dealer fog light kits.

It's not 10 pages at all because of all the other random crap that's been talked about. Rename the post DRLs and more.

I just figured it out.... I love not having DRL's. My outlander is a 06, not sure if it would be done the same way on the 07.  But all you have to do is remove the front ecu which is the red box inside the fuse cover lid under the hood.  Once you pull that box out bend the second clip from the top to the side (opposite of the side with writing and part #) and there you go! no more drl's

Seems like this was the only post that answered the question. Perhaps this post should've been more specific as to what year their Outlander is. Most of the posts were from '07 owners.

Anyway, I have the '05 and I hope you're right about doing this to the Outtie. Imma bout to try this out to rid it of the DRLs.
