If there is corrosion, just take connectors off and take some sand paper to the terminals and cables connectors to remove the corrosion. That should be all you need to do assuming the battery isn't dead.

exactly as metal said. Just clean them off and see what happens. Also what is it doing when you try and start, are you getting anything, like trying to turn over, or is it just dead

that's where i was going with it. does it click at all? does your light come on when you open the door? dont' go buy a 40 dollar battery when it could be some 5 dollar terminal connectors.

Its completly dead it doesnt turn over or anything!! When I open the door the door open light blinks and keeps beeping. It will start with a jump. But other than that it wont start.

well make sure you clean the terminals first before you do anything. you can use sandpaper, a small wire brush or simply go to the parts store and buy a battery terminal cleaner. the same thing happened to my car, and i cleaned the terminals and the wire connectors and it started right up.

Thats cause you got an optima battery. If you just got a regular battery like from Sears It would have been a lot cheeper

lol, that's absolutely rediculous. Please do not try cleaning your battery terminals with any sort of soda, despite it's acidic content. That's just backyard mechanics at it's finest. It sounds like your battery is completly discharged. Try first cleaning the terminals, with metal wire, or sand paper till you remove all corrosion. The reconnect them and tighten till you see all of the terminal being wraped around. try turning it on. If again, nothing happens. take the battery to a auto-store and have it checked for charge. If it's dead, then buy a new one, and that SHOULD fix your problem.
If the car is manual, push start it. When it turns on, after you've cleaned out the terminals, leave it running, so the alternator can charge the battery again. Leave the car on for about 10 minutes. Shut it off, wait 5 and try starting it again, to see if the battery is retaining charge.
let me know how it goes,
Gus
