I'm not justifying my stock bodied car for a win...just know that guys like me, put their time and money to go faster.

Um, didn't you spend extra effort to put the engine and drivetrain into a heavier car?:)

JJ

True, my car isn't that much heavier, it's only 50-75lbs heavier. She'll always be that heavy over any 2G, but weight isn't always a factor if the HP and tuning is properly adjusted It's not about how much money you spend, but what you spend the money on that is important in relative terms. To me, it's not about being a dyno queen, it's about the 1/4 mile time or how fast I can bolt out of a curve.
Instead of cleaning the engine bay, I do boost leak checks, make sure I don't have fuel coming out of the injectors or anywhere else, check my suspension, etc. I do have pride in my car, I would just rather shine running down the track than sitting on a lot for people to view

You should have pride in your car. That is a hell of alot of work.

What sucks is that I got over 20 grand into my ride (with all the receipts and invoices) with no sponsors, no help from mommy and daddy, nothing given to me plus I bought the car bone stock so EVERYTHING I have done to the car has been ON MY OWN so I take a lot of pride in that and not a lot of people take the time to see the little things. I haven't just stuck to one region of the vehicle. I've done a little to the exterior, a little to the interior, and a little to the motor and for me, I believe that is the right direction in modding MY ride. I like the little bit of show with the little bit of go but I don't race it either because it's an expensive hobby and I believe in saving the equipment (LOL).

where the **** did that 20k go?

IMO I think your ride height throws off the look of your car. Throw on some Eibach springs and some Tokiko blues and I think you would have a better response.

I do have coilovers and camber kit waiting to go on it..just haven't gotten to it yet...I'll do that in the Spring time when I break it out of winter storage.

I can see between purchasing the car and the mods 20K is obtainable, but if you spent $20kafter purchase umm you might have paid top dollar for some things or something cause cars these days with 20K invested in are either widebody kit cars(Which just the kits are half that amount without install labor and paint) or really high HP cars.

it does include purchasing the ride which is paid for..no loan..how could it not include that?? I only have 51,800 miles on it too..stereo and electronics are not cheap I'll tell ya that much ...There are more mods than just that kinda stuff on it and I'll continue to work on it all summer like I did last summer so it's just gonna get better and better...What I do is buy most of the mods during the winter while I have my ride stored in my garage and can't do **** to it and then install everything when summer rolls around.....I have it to the point now to where it is showable and I have shown it a few times this past summer... Actually I'm kinda appauled at the comment on me spending the cash on "repairs"...I take extremely good care of it and it doesn't leave my sight...Absolutely no way, not once has the car been "repaired" body wise...It's a very "clean" car and has been very, very good to me. The only "repairs" I have made to it have been oil lines and coolant hoses and that's only because the car sits around in the garage hardly driven anywhere...It's just my toy.

I would say you are infor a rude awakening then. DSM's are expensive to maintain. I would say that about a third of my investment is in maintainence. I started doing the maintenance myself just because it is commonplace.

I would say that more DSMers become their own "mechanics" more than any other type of car due to maintenace.

I +1 this to a googol!
To anyone that doesn't feel the DIY mechanic..well, it's either that or you let someone who cares for your car as much as a Ford Pinto and let them screw it up...err, I mean work on it.

I beg to differ. I became my own mechanic because A. I couldn't afford others to work on my cars and B. because I'm going to care for my car a WHOLE lot more than some greasemonkey asswipe.

In short that's what Batman was saying really. You've become a mechanic due to maintenance, whether it be because you couldn't afford to take it to someone to work on it or the greasemonkey thing, so we all agree that the DSM conspiracy is to make the owners a DIY mechanic, lol...btw, wouldn't that mean that we are now the greasemonkeys?

Greasemonkies and proud of it. The quality of work that is done these days is scary. If you value your ride buy a torque wrench and the three volume manual from Mitsubishi.

Or do what I did and get a paperback manual for "hands on" referrences and the CD Manual that goes into a ton of details (well worth the $30) for prep or whatever.
and I'm a proud greasemonkey too

WTF are you talking about I have not posted behind anything he has posted other than in the post whore section. Are you pissed cause he is a MOD here and your not? He is more helpfull than prob anyone else on here there these days?

I like his car.... I like his car better than yours thats it that was my point. It is the ultimate sleeper. Dont cry cause I have made it plenty clear in the past what i think of your car and the type of cars I like.

If you want to get right down to it we could have not even allowed your car to run in the first place it isnt even yours. Its like me running my dads crossfire on crossfire boards not mine so no one would care.

Congrats on winning. I didnt vote for your car HOWEVER honestly I would if only a few things were changed like the graphics and rims. I actually dont mind your body kit oh and a FMIC and your all set

AHAHAHAHA good point lol DSM enough said. When you get a VR4 though that is one that I assume will be very ROTM worthy to me

OK, new rule...you gotta be owner or co-owner of the vehicle (your name being on it) being nominated for ROTM...otherwise we'll have people entering buddies' rides, mommy and daddy's car, etc. etc. Gotta show a lil' more appreciation for the people who actually put a lot of time, money and effort into their rides themselves without mommy or daddy. LOL
Sound like a good idea??
