I have been looking for info on the differences between the two years, Im not only talking performance either, im mean the whole car overall differences if any, I have seen the quatermile times a hundred times between the two stock but never nothing else. Is there any differences at all????? Obviously the 05's gotta have something different to run a half second faster on the quater. SO any help would be appretiated.

I always read things about the 03-04 evo and then there are things about the 05 evo's, but they are aways separate they never include the 05 in the 03-04 talk, thats why im curious. PLus if there was no difference between the two then why is the 05 supposably faster?????

there are PLENTY of differences.  sebba seriously come on they are not the same at all right down to the turbo.

05s get ACD, LSD, better synros, 10.5 hotside, alluminum roof (on some), 20.5 PSI stock with with a taper to 19PSI

03-04s No ACD, No LSD, little weaker tranny (not that bad though), 9.8 hotside, 19PSI stock with a taper to 16PSI

mainly the turbo and the stock PSI is the biggest difference. BUT some 05s also came with the vortex genorator obviously the MR edition was released as well as the RS and SSL package.  dont foget they are all rated at teh same HP but the 05s run more boost and are faster hmmmm ya think mitsu is under rating there cars.  not to mention the IX is only rated at 286 TEN hp more than the 05 and it is faster

Its the only game he bought right now.

The changed them in 2003 to the VIII from the 2002 VII and tere were alot of changes there.  Then 03-04 were the same they changed again in 05 for more power then in 2006 they went to the IX

hey EMonz57, or anyone else,  got a quick question and didn't wanna start a new thread. What do u think of the Works ECU/Brain flash? They simply take a stock Ecu then reprogram it. It sounds so simple and efficient. Jus wanna get your imput cause i know i'm missing something.    http://worksevo.com/

do a search on here because there is a whole thread about these "flashes" There are basically three main companies that do it. One of the members here 'xtreme' actually has it. Here is the thread where he talked about his. But do your research on all of them to know exactly what your getting

Also check this link under the ECU flash sections  http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_102786/tm.htm

These things are extremely common they make HUGE HP gains on stock cars or bolt on mods.  They can controll boost and gie you a better AFR and timing maps.  I am prob.  going to get a flash in the near future on mine.  they also raise the rev limiter to 7800-8200 or sometimes higher if you choose. and they raise teh fuel cut which I have a prob with on my car cause mine fuel cuts every time I punch it in 3-5th gear on cold nights.  you can also haave them add a 2 step launch setup in which allows you to launch the car in a drag race from nearly full boost

wow....thats exactly what i'm looking for. Now with a WORKS P2R Flash, is it manditory for additional modifications such as exhaust, fuel system, etc? I already plan to replace the stock blow off valve.

It is recommended.  If you dont have anything but a BOV and then later you get say exhaust you will need to flash the ECU all over again to get teh power out of your new mod.

I would personally make sure you have at least a fuel pump 255lph and a BOV.  they can up your boost for you with the flash and if you want a better power return get exhaust to set it off.  Remember this too youll gain alot of power and at the same time get better gas milage.  its a win win
