I would like to get an extra key for my wife's 2007 Outlander. I don't need it it have the lock/unlock/panic functions. Does anyone know if the keys for other mitsubishis can be added to an outlander. The guys in the service dept. in Halifax don't know. They only recommend the 180 dollar one with all the functions. I can get a blank/uncut  transponder key for my eclipse for less than half that price. One of the lancer models also has a key with a  transponder but no remote funcions. It seems reasonable that they would work but I would like to know before buying one.
Thanks for any help.

well the dealership would have to put the code in the new transponder key anyway... i dont see why they cant do it to one that doesnt have all the functions on it

Well I have added keys to my eclipse before. I live about 5 hours from the dealership so I just had them mail me a blank key and I had it cut down here and then I added myself. I would like to do the same thing now but I can't find out if any "cheaper" keys can be added.

I don't mind buying the key from them or installing it myself. What I need to know is Will a key with a chip from a 2003 eclipse or new ds/es (lowest model) lancer work with the outlander for starting purposes?
