Hey i have an 2003 evo 8 and i have a greddy blow off valve install on my car. Turnin it to the hard does what and turnin it to the left does what. Sorry stupid question but i jus wanna know. and rite now, its makin a flutter sound. is it supposed to sound like that, and is it bad for my turbo. Because ive heard serveral greddy blowoff valve that doesnt sound like that. Its a greddy type rs blowoff valve.

As long as you still have that little pipe connected, your fine : )

All it does is depress the spring a little more (harder) and when you loosen it, it makes the spring looser (softer). Harder will make the sound crisper, but too hard wont let the air out efficiently enough. Too soft and it might not hold all the boost properly. Most likely its fine where it is.

you're talkin about the little pipe thats supposed to connect with the blowoff valve rite. if thats it then yes it is. why what happens if its not connected

Yeah its connected back into the intake. thanks alot for everythin man. hey but i do notice one thing though. after i installed the greddy rs valve, im hittin alot higher boost than i do in the stock bov. is that what its suppose to do. and everytime when i switch gears, it seems my rpm would drop down alot faster. turbo lag i think thats what its called. im sure i have it recirculated and its installed rite.

Dont worry about anything man. How do you know your boost levels are higher?

well its not higher but i think im pickin up boost faster than when i had my stock bov on. i have a boost gauge on. i think its jus what im feelin then if the bov has nothin to do with that.

actually sebba you have to remember the stock evo BOV is very similiar to the 2g BOV. It is a POS. They are plastic and leak boost like crazy. Stock boost of an evo is around 18psi. But mikes would spike 18 and then it would drop to 15psi. They are horrible. So putting a new BOV on an evo is usually one of the first things people will do to be able to hold that boost. So yes its normal to feel the car alittle faster with the new BOV.

Yeah but boosting more and picking up boost faster?
TheEngineer

well if the old BOV was leaking then i guess it would feel alot faster

hey yeah. the engineer, thats what im feelin. its the fact the new bov is holdin the boost where its at instead of going back down. i remember when i was drivin with the stock bov, when i reach a certain boost level, the stock bov wouldnt hold it there, it would drop back down. and on the greddy bov, it seems like it would hold the boost level better than the stock bov. i think thats the only reason why i feel a little more power to the car. sorry guys for such a dumb question.

no problem. For some good help on modding that thing its a good idea to post in the evo section and check out some of the faq's. There is alot of good info there

Seb its def what happens.  the Evo VIII stock BOV is so bad that yes a new BOV will help spool a little quicker and of course hold boost higher in turn making the car faster.  just go listen to my videos of before the BOV and after you can eve hear the difference up top in the exhaust note.  (of course Im talking pre turbo upgrade and cams)
