oh and another thing the VR-4's are really sweet but they're fat and if something breaks its hard to get parts for them these days and the aftermarket mods are wayyyyyyy to expensive!

I dont agree at all. Aftermarket parts are not to hard to get for as much as parts from mitsu cost the car is heavy may problem with them is the 5spd VR4 tranny I hear bad things about and I know the 1 vr 4 has a weak bottom end that likes to spin bearins

here's the bigger question though......how much money and labor would it take to make a 3g eclipse as fast as a stock VR-4?

i would assume not that much a vr-4 runs mid 13's that is very possible with a 3g on boost.

Ok.........did I read right and you're wanting to drop a twin-turbo'd DOHC v6 into a Mirage? Do me a favor, take some mesurments and look at how crammed that engine is into the front end of that 3KGT, and then point and laugh at yourself for thinking it could be crammed into a Mirage's engine bay that is full with a 1.8L SOHC. It could be done, I suppose, but you'll be cutting out the firewall. Not to mention that you'll have to completely rebuild the front suspension to handle the weight, otherwise you'll have some insane nose plow going into turns, and you'll be fabricating all the engine and transmission mounts (hope you're good with a welder). Then there's all the wiring harnesses, you'll need a new ECU, new exhaust (cuz God knows that 1 5/8ths inch bendy straw they come with won't work), new transmission, front axles, ect. ect. ect. Should I continue? The Mirage isn't worthy of such an engine anyway. Just get the VR4, pull out some stuff to lighten it a bit and call it a day. Swapping would be a nightmare

ok, here is another question. in everyone's mind, which year was the best vr-4 produced?
TheEngineer
10/12/2006 12:23:51 PM
well 98-99 was the rarest.

correction 99 was the rarest less then 300 made. howver i would go with a 1g(91-93) couse they are cheaper
TheEngineer
10/12/2006 4:37:22 PM
actually both the 98 and 99 had less than 300 made. The 98 is actually more rare to get technical
mitsu_madness

so there wasnt any difference in performance between all the years produced?
