its VTEC, and the non vtec isn't a fast model, probably about 16 second 1/4 time. if you want competition the GSR is a competitive model. the Type R would smoke you.

Youll lose prob either way.... your a Spyder which means your car weights prob over 1000lbs more than his and that is not good

I've owned both, back to back. The teg is a whole lot quicker off the line, but once the clipse gets moving, you'll be seein' Acura in your rear view.

Not in a spyder... I doubt it... the spyder is just too heavy

Mine is a GS, so I wouldn't know about the Spyder. I couldn't imagine it being any heavier than the GS though. Why would it be?

Reinforcment man.
and the motor for the top is heavy too.
A GS is what around 3200LBS a spyder is around 3600+ The 3G spyder weights close to 4k and the coupes only weight 3300

I have an auto GSX and I have a playfull rivalry with a manual spyder turbo convertible. We are 2 n 2 now. The point being is if the vehicle was a non convertible he would smoke me. But since the vehicle is a convertible it evens out the naturally .2-.3 sec slower auto because of the weight. Any questions?? LOL

According to
http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/Used/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/2209/act/usedcarreviewspecs/ the hard top is 2,767 and the convertible is 2,888. The difference is probably more in the motor for the top than anythiong else.
I can't find the Consumer Reports page but they put it at around 3,150 and the rag top at around 3,286 if I remember right.
Now the same consumer reports said the Celica Convertible GT is 2100 lbs 8O And AutoConsumerGuiude comes back with a more realistic 2,700 lbs
Pick your medicine:)

The car DOES NOT weight 3286, that is what the EVO weights and I KNOW for a fact the spyders are heavier

From a stop the AWD will always beat FWD Auto or not. Autos weight a little more alone but spyders outweight that. And the 2 cars would need to have identical mods in order to be comparible, not sure the mods on the cars your talking about

again identicle setups GSX always win from a stop... GST maybe from a roll. Dont forget the GSX is the heavier of the Eclipsecoupe models. so it is closer in range with the convert but still the spyder will out weight a GSX anyday
