It's not really a problem but I can't seem to get my trunk on my eclipse to open all the way when I pull the lever inside the car. It pops the trunk up but I still have to turn the key in the back while I open it.

mine does that too, i just don't even bother with the inside latch and just get of the car and open it with the key, i think what pops it is not powerful enough and can't pop it past the little thing that holds it.

yupyup. mines does that as well. 99 eclipse. the hatch isn't popping hard enough to leave from the latch thats holding the door or from the heat the hatch is being sticky to the stripping. or the pull lever inside the car isn't lifting away fully in order for the hatch to open up successfully....if you get what i mean...anyway...yeh. hope your not too lazy and never use the trunk like i do and just throw crap in the back or the passenger seat

I had a 96 eclipse and the trunk worked find do you think I could switch out the lock? Or maybe tighten the cabel somehow. I know you can move the lock up and down but if its all the way down will it lock tight.

it could also be the trunk struts too, mine are just good enough to hold up the hatch 3/4th to full up when i open it.

the struts are most likely your problem, they can get weaker over time... when i put my spoiler on my car, whenever i popped the trunk, the struts werent strong enough to lift the trunk with the spoiler on it, so it would get stuck in that latched position, just go to the dealer and buy some new ones, i think theyre like 20 bucks, you do need a special tool to put them on tho, almost like a hex wrench, i forget what its called, but autozones got 'em
