Sorry if someone has already answered this question sometime, but I was wondering if any one knows where I can get a cheap but reliable ECU for my 92 2.0 NT Talon? And also a Distributor for that car. Thanks.

Id start here http://www.dsmsource.com/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=2 and see if anyone is parting out an ECU.  Otherwise i've found a few things on craigslist too

craigslist.com, Its kind of like a local ebay and people are parting out their cars all the time.  I'm not sure where you live but go there and click your state and your region and then search the listings and theres probably a good chance someone is parting out a dsm.  I live in Madison, WI and there usually a couple here and a couple in Milwaukee.

I got an ECU, but it didn't completly fix the problem. Before it wouldn't start sometimes, I would turn the key and all it does is one click behind the center, where the ECU is. Then it got to where it would stall on me when it got hot, and the check engine light would come on and I could hear clicking coming from the ECU area. I replaced it and it was just fine for a day, then it started doing the starting thing again. Hasn't stalled yet, but I believe it will sooner or later. My question is, do you think I got ahold of a bad ECU, or something else wrong with the car that's messing them up? I got the ECU from a junk yard, so I'm thinking about taking it back and sending my old one out to get it rebuilt. What do you people think? thanks.

Oh and I also forgot to add a couple things, when I drive it, it acts like I have the MAS unplugged, could the MAS be the problem here? Could it actually cause it not to start? Does anyone know how to check and see if it's good or not?

Thanks Silver, but I don't know if I'll trust ebay with this part. I forgot to add yet another thing, when it won't start, as in when I turn the key, all I hear is that that one click behind the dash like from the ECU area. I just go under the hood and disconnect the neg. battery cable, then reconnect it and the car starts right up. Why in the world would it do that?

yeah, I know, tell me about it. This car is a whole lot of trouble, but I love it, so it's worth it.

you probably not the same problem ECU you had.  From what I have found out the capacitors are notorous for going bad in those ECU.  As a matter a fact I have been having the same problem.  Either the ECU should have the capacitor changed in it or a remanufactured ECU will have modern parts in it.

Now, I have a Question, I replaced my ECU and now the car runs but I still have no fire to cylinders 2 and 3. (which is probably what you are experiencing when you say "like the mass in unplugged.)  I have new coil packs on as well.  Crank/cam sensor is functioning.  ignition module maybe?  Any ideas?

sorry to highjack

I unplugged the MAS and the running changed a lot, so I take back it acting like the MAS is unplugged. When at idle it idles like it normaly does, but when I'm driving and I'm going slow with the RPMs at around 3 to 4000, it kinda slightly jurks back and forth, well not jurk. It's hard to explain. I do plain on having my ECU rebuilt, so I'll see what that does. Thanks
