ok guys, still working on my eclipse gst. we replace the head gasket now the car wont run right. timing is dead on. while doing some reading i found that an egr valve could be causing my car to shut down. heres what happens the longer the car runs the less likely it shuts off. when it starts cold  it goes to 2700 rpm then to 1000,then sputters to 100ish then starts all over again, back to 2000ish and eventually it dies but as i let it warm up and do it it will bounce back up to about 900  rpm witch is normal. could this b a faulty egr valve giving me 4 months of pain?

possibly. if your egr valves going bad it can cause all kinds of weird stuff to happen. i broke mine last year and i had to tape it till i got a new one lol. it wouldnt let my car run at all even if i gave it gas. it would just stall

I didn't think our cars had an EGR valve... I thought only the 420a had it.

Really? My eclipse was doing that too.  Could that be the EGR then? It sounds exactly the same.
The motor came  out of a galant vr-4 and it's the 6 bolt.

mine did something simular to what your car is doing. i thought it was the ISC but in the end i had to mess with my BISS....you might want to try messing with that, just make sure you count the turns if it doesnt help so you can put it back to how it was

I had a bad isc on my 1gen after I changed the timing belt and would let me start the car and stall within seconds.  I replaced it and it was fine.

so you think it could be my isc? explan what happend? if it wasnt like this, i turn the car on, strugles to start up, then starts to vibrate and rpms go everywhere. then almost dies and then gose up to 1500 rpms then shuts down, after sitting at 100 rpms
