Hey!!! i've been doing some research on the GST and GSX engines and i've found that their are some little differences. These differences are for example bore/stroke, +5 HP, etc. But here is whats going on, i'm thinking on buying a 99 eclipse GST but where I live they are really hard to find, so I was thinking about buying the RS or GS which are more comon and make the engine swap. but if you go to a place where they sell the engines, how can you tell which one is from the GST and which one from the GSX? is there any chance of telling the diffrence by just looking at it?

The problem is that I don't live in the US and things work different here.

yea, the gsx is AWD and the gst is FWD, so if you look under the car youll see a driveshaft and rear axle on the gsx, thats the easiest way.............unless they have the badging on them

i highly suggest waiting until you find a gst/x insteading of doing a swap. it will save you a lot of time and greif. its not worth the effort if you havnt already bought either one

thanks for the advice. the problem is that the engines they sell them without transmision or nothing like that, only the block and main parts like cams, etc. So you can't tell the difference with the AWD.
I could wait to find the gst but they are really hard to fid here, and there are only 2 gsx on this country so bye bye AWD lol, and the workshops are really cheap here so I can make the swap for about $200.00 well done.

I'd look into importing and see if you can find one in the states. It would still probably be easier than doing a swap. Then you can find a nice GSX and have exactly what you want.

the problem is with a law here, to be able to import a car it has to be 5 years old or less, that make this the last year to be able to import a 99 gst

A engine swap would be very difficult, but if you have the time and money go for it.

Ahhh, I got you, that sucks. Only having one year you can choose from def sucks. Well the swap isn't impossible and it might be the way to go for you.

yeah, its not imposible and it will cost me around $150.00 but I want to see if I can find the engine from de GSX instead of the GST.

Sounds like a plan.
