I finally figured out I had an Eprom ecu the other day and was wondering if you can use certain programs to change the tune or if you actually specifically need a new chip like DSMlink. I have evoscan as my datalogging software and it has an option to reflash the evo ecu's but i wasn't sure it would work with mine. Any comments and suggestions would help out a lot. Thanks guys.... also, Evoscan is probably the best datalogging software i've ever used. I would recommend checking it out.

im pretty sure you cant use that software to tune the eprom. BTW you need to have the eprom "socketed" before you can even use the dsmlink are anything to be able to plug into it

The socketing is only to swap out the chips. It embedds a socket onto the mother board so you can replace the chips as you change things on your car. You tune it through your OBDII socket. Since the computer can use that chip to change information for the car, what keeps you from being able to send information to it as well? I'll let you guys know what I figure out. Thanks guys I appreciate it

you need the chip in order to change settings in the ECU. Without it all you can do is extract data through the obdII

not necessarily.. check out the web site. There is a code the factory embeds into the chip to make it unchangable, but the guy who makes the program has developed a code to unlock it. http://www.limitless.co.nz/ ... check it out its pretty interesting. Even if it doesn't work, the data logging software is amazing
