Well, I did some searching and was coming up with much of nothing. I just bought a beat-up old 1990 Eclipse GSX 5spd. Now everything runs/works properly, but it needs new clutch and it cant idle for too long cuz oil gets in the valves or something like that. So I was thinking if it is possible to put an EVO 8 Engine and Tranny Swap or 3000GT Vr-4 Engine and Tranny Swap or Just stick with the engine I got build it up, possible larger or different turbo, other performance parts, etc. I would just like input as to which would be the best choice, seeing that money is not readily available.

I would just invest money in a 1st gen long block, replace all internal with forged internals, that way you dont have the threat of crankwalk as you do with a 2nd gen. You can make a 1st gen block handle a much larger turbo and push 22+ lbs with a nicely built long block. Then of course, you want to get a oversized valve job.

whats the difference between a short block and long block. So what is all needed to convert it to a long block.
Here is list of some mods I want to do:
Forged Internals
Valve Job
Uprgraded Turbo and fuel system
Upgraded Clutch/Flywheel Package

Anything else will tranny be able to hold.
