Exhaust and muffler question?

So i look under the car, and i think we all know where the usual muffler is located. The question i have is that in the middle of the piping, there seems to ba another muffler looking thing ...What is this? Is this an additional muffler to regulate the air flow or is it something else? Is it a sensor? What the hell is it...it looks like this..

Its the catylitic converter.

You will get about 3-5hp.. your exhaust will sound a lil deeper.

You will also get a check engine light... but ignore it

Will it cause your engine to fail or not shut off??

Okay i thought so...I know by doing so , i am destroying the enviroment...but who cares, we are all going to die one day!! hahhaha

Don't remove it you fail the emission test and engine light will turn on.

there is a sensor on the CC. if you removed it the engine light will come on.

Depending where you live, new cars wont need a smog test for about 6 years. Thats how it is in California.

It is Illigal to remove the Catalyctic Converter according to Spike TV whatever State you live in with or without the Emission test.

If you install a new performance pipes they always recommend to re-install the CC. there is nothing wrong with CC. you are daily driver not a racer.

SRI and HKS muffler with Silencer is just enough to make the Lancer faster.
if you are just planning to drive it a little faster but racing it is another story

Just wait until the 100,000 warranty
Beside enjoy the stock performance for now. it is not really pretty bad at all
