2003 Outlander AWD has a Oxygen sensor in front an behind the catalytic converter, I'm in Alberta Canada and we have no emissions control, so I was thinking do ditch the CAT and replace it with a straight pipe. Now since there are two sensors and they pick up signals before and after the CAT will my CAT removal cause some unwanted effects like "check engine" or running lean\rich.
If anyone has done this could you please shine some info my way? THNX.

why dont you just run a pipe and have two bungs welded in place so you dont have to get the lights on the dash. It might be more expensive but it will satisfy the computer.

Not familiar with the term "bungs"? Please explain.
This will cost me only some beer (friend owns an exhaust shop).

I did this with our Nissan Quest, which we used to have. First few years all was well. Than the engine started backfiring and losing power going uphill and pulling our trailer. The dealer installed a new converter and the van ran like new. Something about the computer running out of "room" to compensate for the lack of converter. I will never pull out the converter again.

eventually, check engine will lit....(cel) it will compensate with fuel / air mixture. to get rid of this, you'll have to modify your brain chips.

Removing the cat will give you a down stream o2 sensor fauiler code. The ecu will think that either the car is running too rich or its running with an exaust leek. The the ecu will lean the a/f ratio out to a safe degree. In short the car will become a little faster but you will have a cel. Their are a few tricks you can do to get rid of it. For the eclipse you can put a 1/2watt, 1000 ohm resistor in the sending line of the 02 sensor and the code will go away.

or you could just gut your cat so that way the actual cat stays on and will pass a visual inspection, or just buy a high flow cat and be done with it.

Isn't there a fuse you can pull that will stop that light from coming on?

Hmmm...
Maybe I'll just leave the damn thing on, or look into a high-flow cat.
