I was driving, everything seemed fine, and then my battery light came on, followed by the check engine light followed by all the friggin lights. I thought I had some time, but about a half hour later, my radio died, then my lights dimmed and the car died.

I tried to boost the battery, but battery acid wound up coming out/bubbling out of it. I replaced the battery and the car started up fine.

The problem is, now a lot of my electrical components are not working. The light gauges don't work, the radio doesn't work, the interior light don't work, the pwr windows and door locks don't work. My headlights, brakelights, hazard lights, and so does my interior brake light indicator.

WTF is going on?!?!?!

ALTERNATOR!  LOL!  I am pretty sure its the alternator.  Let us know if that batter dies again?

Or fuses like Jerusy said...  But i am willing to bet it will be the alternator.. if not, then i will feel like a jack ass. lol!

ya, if the car died while you were driving I would get the altenator checked..  But the lights and gauages and stuff not working almost sounds like you blew some fuses..

Ok, I'll let you all kno. I really don't think it's my fuses tho. :[

Can anyone recommend a brand of alternator?

Thanks

I 3rd that stock motion.

I too had the same issue.  The regulator died and it stopped charging my battery and the alternator only supplied a enough to barely get my car moving with enough power (unless I was WOT).  Check your alternator and battery fusible links for 12V with the car off and 14-ish volts with your car running...as per manual.

Odd, my fuses look fine. I was going to get the alt checked today but the friggin snow dropped. Right now what's not working are the radio, heater, door locks, pwr windows. I am going to replace my fuses anyway, and get my alt checked/replaced.

Yea, silver, I was reading about that in the manual. I know the shop around here will check my alt for free tho.

Thanks, all.

please tell me you're not just going to replace random fuses?

Look in the owners manual and it will tell you the locations & purposes of each fuse.

No Josh, I was going to replace ALL of them. I mean a box of 40 is like 16 bucks or something. But thanks for the concern. Oh, and replacing all of them is not just for the issue I am having. I just bought the ride and replacing all the fuses is someting I like to do, kinda like changing all the fluids. Does that make sense? Am I blowing 16 bucks?

look at the fuses... if its burnt and the metal connector isnt in one piece then you replace that fuse.. just check them all and find out what you need.

Check grounding points too on the engine. And clean out your battery terminal wires real good.

Well, I replaced the alternator and one of the fuses. Everything works fine now, but now the car won't turn over. Jeez. I think I may have burnt out the starter motor trying to turn it over when she was dead. I didn't realize you should wait a two minutes before trying to start it up again. Well, I guess I'll be starting another thread soon. Lol

Thanks for all of your help.
