Finally a new clutch!

My ACT 2100 is now installed and I already stalled twice lol. First was when I was leaving the parking lot of the shop and 2nd was the stop light immediatly after the parking lot . I didnt expect it to be so grabby...man mine old clutch sucked compared to this one. I love getting on freeways now, my car is actually pulling the entire time. The engine stuttering is something I need to work on, im so used to releasing the clutch a lot quicker and it didnt grab until I let go about half way up. Happily I dont over rev it though, just not enough sometimes. I never had much of a grab when I released my old clutch quickly...now it grabs and jolts. Its only been a few hours, ill get the hang of it hehe. Thanks again everyone for all your input and advice.

Congrats bud.  The stock clutch isn't all that bad.  It's really made for the general public who want a "smooth" shift and an "easy on the thigh" pedal feel, lol.
Remember to break it in or you'll be back to the shop, lol.

all new clutches grab quickl;y, in a few weeks it will be more normal

Cool thanks for the heads up. I took it out today and im starting to adapt a lot more. Occasional stutter but no biggie. Its insanely better though, I made a good choice.

LOL same thing with me dude. After the clutch was replaced on the GST it was just like that. Youl get used to it.
 
Remember to take it easy. No loading up the clutch on the downshifts, no aggressive launches/shifts for a couple hundred miles.

How hard is it to change a clutch on a '97 GST?  I was trying to teach a couple of my daughters how to drive a clutch and since then it does not seem the same.  I've changed a lot of clutches in 2 wheel rear drive vehicles but not on a front wheel drive, but I have changed half shafts a few times.  The clutch is still good and hasn't slipped, but the pedal feel is not what I like.  My old '70 Camaro had a race/heavy street McCloud clutch and that was a bit heavy.  Caught in traffic your leg would be shaking after a while cause of the constant strain trying to ease into it.  That is not what I'm looking for either.  I haven't looked but my guess is that this would be a hydraulic clutch so that would not be much of an issue.

it was pretty easy for me to change my clutch.. you might want to have a buddy help when you pull out the tranny tho.

Yup, its my daily driver so the street clutch was more than enough. I wont be making any major power upgrades so its perfect to handle the little over stock hp.
