My youngest son is the not so proud owner of a 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse with the 2.0 litre dbl. cam motor. I hope with a little help from other owners to change that. The problem is that it usally starts good when cold but when shut off warm it tends to flood itself out. We have found that if you unplug the injectors and crank the engine to clear the excess fuel it will start, then you can reattach the injector wires and it will fire up. He bought the car from his older brother who has had the car to a repair shop that was not able to find a problem. I'm wondering if it's maybe bad fuel injectors that when warm don't shut off the flow of fuel or maybe a bad fuel pressure regulator that maybe causing high fuel pressures to push the fuel past the injectors. Please help. I'm a shade tree mechanic that doesn't what to surrender to the Japanese.

sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor...

Yep what adrian said, I have one go bad on my 1g and was amost impossible to start and would foul out the plugs. Replace the coolant temp sensor and you'll be good to go.

I would NEVER of thought that.
I have heard of injectors going bad and them being on costantly when they shouldnt be.
