Rcj, i know honda, i deal with them all day, and i will be highly impressed if you pull a low 13' second pass. I'm sorry but i completly doubt it. I have nothing agaisnt anything your saying, and you know i'm never one to disrespect, but bone stock gsr with neo tunning, in a del sol. You will not pull a low 13, other wise everyone would have that swap done.

Do alittle research on actual times that people are nailing with that swap, and your going to be quite surprised.  A few months back we swapped a GSR b18 c1 obviously j-spec with a type R lsd transmission, every bolt on you could think of, including 4-1 header, CTR cams, fidanza flywheel, 4 puck unsprung, Skun2 intake manifold, with match ported 60mm throttle body. Full magnoflow exhaust, and a chipped p28. In a gutted ef hatch. Mind you it has a sunroof but still, the best time i ran was a 13.3.

You have to realise, yeah the GSR comes with a 180 hp, but it's to the crank. Hondas because their front wheel drive loose alot of horse power through the drivetrain, and foward of motion rule. Those guys that are nailing high twelves, I can assure you they have 200-220 WHP. Now add some spray to the gsr, and you'll fo sure hit the low 13's, but now were talking about power adders.

Again, i dont mean to stir you up, or poke fun of, but trust when i say your not going to be making the numbers you claim to be.

Gus

my friend has a B16 in his del sol, bolt ons and maybe spray ran high 12's also the C1 is NOT J-spec, J-Spec would be B18C (nothing after) a B18C5 is a USDM Type R.

Bruno, here's a pic of a GSR swap vs a Del Sol w/ the factory B16 (http://videos.streetfire.net/video/b267993e-f62e-4414-beb4-98fa0131bef6.htm) just to pit it into prospective of the difference between the b16 and b18 gsr.

David - i'm also curious where u have seen an s2k swap on a del slow.

Sebz - i don't think i understand that you mean... bolt in a motor and run mid - high 13's.   Add some simple bolt-ons such as exhaust, intake, header, intake manifold and cams and i'm running loww 13's.   Either JR Supercharger or custom Turbo kit and i'm in the mid - low 12's, w/ slicks i'm running 11's probably.

No offence but I still think this is a HUGE mistake.  esspecailly if this is still your daily driver.  I bet youll end up being dissapointed in the car at some point  not at first obviously but shortly after driving it youll start thinking it over.  (ya know like me with My Evo,  and since your the only person I know who is more indecisive than me)

From experience a low 12 sec car is no walk in the park to just cruise with.  It is a PITA.  im sure the honda will be a little easier for the fact it is not going to be 400HP but it will be light and FWD so ya you might as well stay stock and drive it in snow cause the traction will be jjust as bad.

Im glad he is into what he is doing.  I know how for it is to do this stuff.  but after $6500 into my motor I am already used to it and it feels slow to me again at times.  Although the cold weather here is CRAZY.  my car churps second gear with granny shifts in the cold weather lol

i guess that's the difference between you and me mike... its hard for me to not be satisfied w/ a car when i've put time, money, sweat and blood into a car.  i would STILL rock my eclipse even though it was 111whp.  i loved that car b/c it was MINE.    i think i'm going to like this one even more b/c i'm doing something that not a lot of other ppl do.   160whp in this car will be PLENTYfor me for the time being.  i dont think you understand that i've NEVER had a fast car... so anything faster than stock right now, is concidered fast to me.     we just have different opinions i guess, but it's all good.     i really never look at 1/4 mile times, i really don't.   but that's all i have to base the car off of b/c 200whp doesn't sound like diddly crap to most.

well let me start by saying before my Evo I drove a 105WHP 3G sooo yea do you think I knew what fast was.   Ron understand this.  It is a game it never ends and you will never be satisfied after you start to see what fast is.  I always said a 13 sec car is all I want.  and planned to do it with my 3g then I got the Evo and had a 13 sec car so I wanted only small mods.  well small mods later The car started to come alive and it was adicting.

You do realize your the same guy Ron who insisted on needing like a 600HP car for the longest time.  so you and I both know you wont be satisfied its just the way itt goes.  Your are no different from me.  I though Id be done wit hthe Evo from here well took me a few weeks to want a meth kit and more HP this after all the money time sweat ect that I put inot the Evo belive me I was thinking like you when working on it,  maybe you just dont understand and you wont untill your start to feel some power underneath you.  But now I am starting to not enjoy driving he car on the streets and im being like you and cant chose what I want

I guess i don't see where yall are coming from.   True that this car wont' be 600whp but in a car this light there is really no point.   This car has opened my eyes to see how big of a difference Weight can do.    I think that 300-350whp in this car will be plenty fast enough for me.      What is it that yall don't see the point/logic in?   i'm dropping a new engine in a car to be faster and stronger... seems logical to me.   yes its a honda, who cares.   yes it's fwd, i'd say proly 70-80% of imports are fwd so it's not uncommon.    my next car/project will be RWD - either RX-7 or S2000

youll get board of haveing traction problems when you really just want to go.  the power will wear off on you and feel slow then 300-350 wont be enough.  I understand the logic completely though.  Belive me I wish My car weighed only 2k lbs lol.  70-80% are FWD and they dont get very far on an average either.   Look at teh RWD and AWD sport imports  there are MUCH heigher % of them that make fast times.  the FWD the % is much mich lower on being a fast built car.  because it is not easy to harness the power and put it on the floor.  I think doing just the motor swap and calling it done is enough to me.  Make it a car that can move a little bit and keep it as a DD (if it were me) then you could save and buy a car that can do more for you and not have to worry about not having another car to DD incase god forbid something happens.

gotcha... so it's the traction part of it that you are against.   that was easy enough.  i understand and that's why i'm probably not going to go anything over 300... there is a guy on the sol forum that has not even broke 300whp mark yet (dynojet) and is spinning through 1, 2 and 3'rd gear.... i don't want that.   tha's why i was planning on going w/ the JR SC b/c they put the sol up to 250whp and thats it.    i've ALSO thought about going all motor for the same reasons ur talking about here.   nice lil built motor in the car putting me to about 200-220whp i think would be perfect.      even w/ my 103hp (crank not wheel) w/ my new exhaust i have tractions problems in 1st lol, i know it's crazy.    mabey all motor is the way to go.

Here was my thought process just now.

Okay he doesnt understand where we are coming from. What is the point in modding the car? He says he wants like 180 what ever whp... so why not GST? Oh thats right the GST is a lot heavier.. .so what else can compete with that.... then i realised.... there isnt a whole lot... i cant think of anything. So i guess is see a point in that respect.

But im with Mike on this. The first car i consistantly drove was my moms GST. After a while the tq steer and pulling/fighting with it just got boring... like... yeah okay what ever. It just got lame. We should all start with 600hp cars lol.

i get where you are coming from Sebba but if you put that into prospective than here's what ur saying in a nutshell... i don't care if you have a 1500whp supra... eventualy if you drive it long enough you will get tired of it and want more... that's the whole point of moding in the first place.   i'm gonna tak the sol up to about 220whp and be happy.

***UPDATE***
engine is in
shift linkage is in
if i didn't tell you already they tried to scam me on the radiator
ordering the Brian Crower 2.25l stroker kit (11.6:1 compression) next month and assembling that before its dropped in there.
ordered F1 stage 2 street disk clutch
ordered aluminum lightweight 7lb fidanza flywheel
ordered my 99-00 EK Civic cf hood
once i get the stroker, clutch, and flywheel installed i'm dropping the engine in w/ it's lightweight pulleys and ha motorsports engine mounts.  gonna be tuned w/ a p28 ecu and Hondata.  got about 2-3 months infront of me b4 i'm an EK Sol w/ a stroked b18c1. :)  but it should be pretty quick when it gets dropped in.

future plans:
paint job of course
volk gt-5 gold rims (16 or 17x8 in front and regular trim in the back prolly)
set of 272 cams paired w/ skunk 2 internals to allow me to rev up to and past 9k rpm's (10k max i'm told) (1mm oversized valves, 3 angle valve job, port and polish)
45mm ITB kit.
after all of this is done i'm having a wire tuck done and i'll be done w/ her.   should be prettttttty damn fast when this apx 250+whp car is done.
also THINKING of putting a 50 or 75shot of nitrous (don't worry, i will be taking every precaution to ensure it's safe) for those big races.
aftermarket oil cooler, koyo or fludyne radiator... pretty much everything i can do to keep this engine as cool and safe running as possible.

thanks Gus :).  just an estimate... w/ the fully built engine and as light as i can get the car w/ CF all over... what kind of HP do you think i'll be able to put down w/ that 2.25l?
