Found this very interesting

I was watching some Top Gear on demand today and they did a small peice on the Ferrari 599. Now of course they go on about the power and shifting and whatnot but then when i was looking at the styling of this car i couldnt help but feel like i had seen it before... Here is the ferarri 599

 
Anyone think this slightly resembles something else

I find the simlilarities staggaring. That just goes to show that even the top sports car companies is the world will take from the MKIV

wow... theyre basically the same, the only difference is that stylingly they used flow edges to separate the cabin from the rest of the body

hmmm i saw the top gear for the 599 i thought it was awesome but now u put them side by side i really can see it. i like the supra's styling more

yea, i kept looking at it and then i saw the small bump at the back of the trunk and im like, wait, thats how the supra looks wingless

That is pretty funny that they look so similer.  I bet they are gonna be a few supra's out there w/ ferrari badges.

Just goes to show the supra was pretty far ahead of its time , i mean its just now where Sports imports are coming out with the power levels the supra, RX7 and 3000GT had.  they were all ahead of there time.  The RX7 is actually the ost dated looking of them all

i think he was saying god help us about the ferrari badging supra comment, which would be totally retarded and i doubt any supra owner would be stupid enough to do it

They look alike. Also I think it kinda in a way looks like a new Vette from the side profile.

well I noticed this stuff alot too.  The Viper and Vette have ALOT of RX7 in them.  the vette it is pretty obvious what I mean.  the viper.  the door handles window trim and roof line have the same look as the FD

AGRREEEEED!!!! RX7, 3kGT and Supra are pretty much the 90's best imports.... of course we can put in there the 2g since its a gorgeous piece of machinery

to me really all the body styles of the supra, eclipse 1g and 2g, 300zx, they all kind of look like they ripped off mazda, even the 80's styles.  which was stolen from porsche anyway.

They all know what eachother are doing, and steal some of eachothers styles..  Its been happening for a long time now 

still i'm getting an 86 300zx with T-tops,  80's music, aviators, and reo speedwagon here i come.

ummm not really,  maybe early 90s versions.  but the FD, MKIV , 3000gt, 300zx look nothing alike especially the supra and 3000gt as they are like double in size.  And all of these look NOTHING like the 80s versions.
 
And I really dont think you can call the 2g ahead of its time.   I really was not at all.  it was never up to its time till they came out with a US Evo since you know after all that time the motor was finally done right

these all look alike, the fd rx-7 rear window style to me looks a lot like the eclipse 2g.  the 2nd g 300 does not, and the 3000gt is not near the style.  the supra is not really much bigger than a 2g eclipse only a few inches bigger but i see a few, small, but a few similarities.

dude like I said the 80s-early 90s are the same.  After than Not even close.  MKIV supra 93+ no way,  FD rx7 means 93+ no way the same.  91+ 300zx looks nothing like any of them.  and the 2G doesnt look like any of that AT ALL either.  I mean I really dont see your point.  all cars in the 80s- early 90s looked the same there is no stlye at all back then.  every one copied each other then the turn in the early to mid 90s they all tried to out do each other and the cars have no simularities to the older GENs at all

and in my point of view they do, it's an argument that neither of us will win, due to the fact that i'm right, you're wrong.  you're right, I'm wrong.  I see the simliarities, but you don't see them as that.  Just the way it's perceived. 

there are no simularities at all to the later gen RX7, supra, 3000gt, 300zx.  if anything the 300 looks like a glory saturn thats about it.  the RX7 looks more like a beefed miata and it is about the same damn size.  the 3000gt and supra are much bigger cars than you think I will assure you that.  they are both VERY VERY WIDE and long they are tanks  I mean think about it they are both 3500+ lbs the RX7 is only like 2800lbs.  the 2G eclipse maybe the hi wing looks close in shape to the supra wing but other than that they dont share much else of each other.  the rear glass of a supra and Eclipse is maybe close but not close to an FD at all.  the FD is very UFO like it is like the George Jetson glass on the space car he has.  they are very bubble like and wrap onto the car its weird.  
 
NESpeed actually has a stealth RT (3000gt) and had an FD , while TE had a Talon trust me side by side by side in person HELL no they are not even any simularities at all they look so far from each other its insane while in the 1G eclipse's and the FC rx7s and the MKIII supra's all looked very very very much alike it isnt even funny.
 
If you need to compair a supra look at the body of like a 97 celica the lines are identical if you use a little imagination.  I mean the trunk line and every thing no that is a copy IMO of one two another BUT toyota make em both so go figure

well why are you saying they are similar when all you say is they have "very small" similarities. To me for a car to be similiar they have to really have a close body style. And of course the FD and eclipse have similiar rear window styles, they are both 2-door hatch backs . There are only so many way to design a hatchback. But they are not even close when it comes to the overall body style. I agree that the older styles all look the same. But i believe that the mitsubishi really started loosing the battle of imports when they got to the 2g. Mitsubishi decided to try and make something that was more affordable than the other companies.

John the rear window of the RX is NOTHING like a eclipse at all being a hatch and everything it still is shaped MUCH different.  just go look at pics of keiths car after going wingless then look at all 2Gs
