Front License Plate

okay, so I just bought me a new (to me) 06 Eclipse. the thing is I live in Nebraska, and bought it in Kansas. Kansas does NOT require that the vehicles on the road have a front license plate. in Nebraska they do.
now, I have always hated having a front license plate on my vehicles, it just looks dumb, but every other car I've bought has at least had a frame, so I put the plates on. now, I have a car that looks better than anything I've ever owned, and it has no bracket. I want to say it'll be a cold day in hell before I drill into my bumper, but what other choice do I have, other than getting pulled over on every cops whim?
comments, suggestions?
Please help me not to defile the look of my shiny new car!
thanks!

You got no choice but to put two holes in the front bumper. Just get the braket from a mitsu dealer

You could try the put it in your front windshield trick... never tried it myself, but Ive been told cops dont have a big problem with it..

I appreciate the input. I think that I'll try the windshield thing for as long as possible. I am just hoping that when I go out for a suds or two (never more when I have to drive) that some cop isn't having a bad day and decide to pull me over anyway. I am going to try and resist defacing the front of my car for as long as possible.
Guess I'll just have to take the wife's jeep when I don't want to test getting pulled over.

they might still pull you over for having it in the windshield, they did on my car, so i just zipped tied it to the grill of my car.

you zip tied it to your grill? doesn't that look worse than the god awful bracket and license plate? or do you only zip tie it to the grill when you have a fix it ticket that you need signed, and then clip it off when you are out of there?
I have a friend who is a member of 3SI, he has 2 3KGT's and he actually cut down his license plate, and wired it to the lower grill area. I would consider doing that myself, but my eclipse came without any mesh to attach anything to.
oh well, 29 more days to figure out something before I have to buy my plates

there was a local story near my town ... some kid put it on the windshield and decided to act a little stupid in an empty parking lot. when he got his car spinning out of control in different directions, the plate somehow sliced his lip and cheek. he has a bigger smile on one side of his face.
why not put the lisence plate on your bumper to make it look a little more aggressive? you know ... how evo's have it under their right headlight. i have yet to see a dsm that way, but i might try it.

I made a bracket with brushed aluminum from Home Depot. The screws mount where the bumper bar is and off to the driver's side headlight.
So, in all, I didn't have to drill holes in the stock location. I bought my car in Louisiana and they don't have front plates either. Hawaii, requires the front plate though. I had my plate attached to the passenger visor for a long time, then I decided to mount it up front before I get pulled over for it...they're pretty strict about the plates here.

do you have pictures of that bracket? maybe you could e-mail your "Plans"
I know exactly what is going to happen too, I have to put plates on it by the 9th of June, and on the 10th of June, they are going to announce that front plates are no longer required... right after I drill into my unmarred bumper
thanks for all the input and ideas guys!

I'll take some pics for you.
I did have to drill two holes on the bumper but you won't be able to see them if you took the LP off for say, a photoshoot.
They are under the "nose" part of my bumper. You can get a better idea if you look in my sig pic.

so far, I've been getting pretty lucky. I've had the car a week now, and I've seen more City police and State patrol cars in the last 7 days than I think I have in the previous year. I know what I am doing it technically illegal, but I just can't bring myself to take a drill to my car... yet.
that actually looks pretty good Sithlord... my only problem is that Batman LP's are not allowed in the state of Nebraska... lol
really though, I get what you are saying. how did you attach the plate to the car? I have no mesh to attach anything down in my lower bumper.
it doesn't appear that it restricts air flow too much.
thanks for your ideas and inputs guys

Wait... the state of Nebraska outlawed Batman License plates? Are you kidding? Adam West must hate that place, lol.

Welcome to my hell Dusty. lol
Mayor West is in RI, so I am guessing our Mayor Mac Cheese has something against him. plus, he still hasn't brought the hamburglar to justice.

How I put my plate on ...
I had to make a bracket. I used these L brackets that are used fore shelves or something from home depot. that way the screws are in none visable areas on the bumper. It does not hinder any airflow. Sooner or later I am going to get black mesh and I will probably remove the L-plate then I just don't like that open area too much. Good luck!!

Nice Family Guy refference there Dusty!
I am guessing with the L-brackets that you pick up from Home depot(r) etc you get about the smallest ones that you can. and that you then screw it into the top of the bumper, not the bottom of the bumper, right? plus, the bimper appears to be all fiberglass and plastic, so I just use a self-tapping screw, and as long as I don't tug on the thing, it shouldn't pull out, right?

i have a aftermarket front bumper so it work in my case. or you could order like an evo braket and place it on the side, if that would work.

based on all the information that I have recieved so far, I've designed, and drawn a bracket. I even talked to an engineer at my work ro make sure that the integrity of the bracket would stand up to what I needed. I plan on making one here shortly, I just need a few more tools.
until then, I needed something that will hold a LP so I don't get pulled over by the man. I went out and bought 2 "L" brackets, 4 bolts, nuts and washers. (the bolts were the wrong size, and I need to exchange those for smaller ones) once I have the project completed I'll be posting instructions and pictures of my work so that anyone else coming along with the same problem will have another option other than drilling into their bumper.
just so I don't pull a stupid Noob stunt, where is the section of this forum that I should post instructions and picture of this project?
Once again, I just wanted to thank everyone for all their input, and the nice warm welcome that I have recieved.

Alright, I finally had a chance to take pics.
So, here's my home made bracket. It's nothing special, just a bracket to place my LP onto the fascia without leaving visible holes for later removal.

I had mine velcro strapped to my passenger visor in plain view for almost a year and it was very easy to see but I was still told by a cop, as I was going into one of the Army bases here, that I had to have it mounted on the front fascia. They use laser out here, so I guess it's imperative for cars to have them up front where they can tag you, lol.
